Battery

Changing the battery in your key fob is one of the most straightforward fixes. The key fob is powered by a small coin-shaped battery (CR2032, and CR2025) that can be found in most general stores and home improvement stores and auto parts stores. If it isn't working after pressing the button several times, ensure that the contacts are clean. You could also try the issue with a spare fob to see if the problem is confined to your key. This would cause the button to work periodically, not continuously.

Interference

The key fob has an insignificant transmitter to send a short-range radio signal to a receiver in your vehicle. Its purpose it to allow your car to recognize the key fob, unlock its doors when you come close to it, and then turn on when you press the ignition button.

The problem is, interference can occasionally interfere with that communication. For instance, if have your second-generation Apple Pencil charged while you're holding the fob, it can stop you from unlocking your car (via iGeneration).

Other electronic devices that operate on the same frequency as the fob may also interfere with its signal. Garage door openers and tire-pressure monitoring devices can also be affected. Chip that isn't working
