The bio-cellulose drivers of 40mm in the earcups are angled so that they directly hit your eardrums. This gives you an audio experience that is more intimate than most other closed-back headphones. 3. Focal Bathys Wireless

For audiophiles who prize high-fidelity and are searching for an exceptional wireless noise-canceling headset, the Focal Bathys are hard to beat. They're the French audio company's first-ever ANC headphones to use Bluetooth and offer amazing sound quality both in Bluetooth mode and when connected to an device via USB for true hi-fi listening at up to 24-bit/192kHz (the headphones are also capable of blocking external sound with its closed ear cups).

The Bathys are stunning, with their glossy finish and swooping curvatures that like Focal's closed-back Celestee and open-back Elear wirelss headphones. The Bathys are made from top-quality materials like magnesium and aluminum that make them feel sturdy and comfortable. They are also worth the cost.

In Bluetooth mode, the Bathys provide a clear and lively sound signature that easily outperforms similarly priced consumer ANC options like the Bose QC45. Direct DAC audio mode allows them to be further pushed and makes them an excellent choice for true hifi enthusiasts.

The Focal &Naim app lets users to adjust the headphone's playback controls and Bluetooth pairing preferences. You can select between quiet or soft intensities for ANC, set the brightness of the LEDs on the headphone's ear cups, and adjust the EQ settings. The app is bare-bones but it has enough functionality to warrant the cost of downloading.

The only issue is the active noise cancellation, which doesn't live up to the competition. The headphone doesn't eliminate all background noise as effectively as the top-rated XM5 and AirPods Max. Its treble accuracy is also lacking with a muffled mid to high range that blocks the instruments and vocals.

The Focal Bathys headphones aren't very transportable. The ear cups aren't foldable up and weigh a bit heavier than other models, meaning that they're not suitable for traveling. The Bathys are comfortable to wear over long periods of time, despite their size and weight.

4. Sony WH-CH720N

The Sony WH-CH720N headphones are an excellent pair of wireless headphones that are worth the money. The noise-cancelling technology is great and does a great deal to reduce ambient noise. They are perfect for commuters or travellers. Their matte finish and durable construction give them a touch of luxury.

They follow a similar design to Sony's newer 1000X and XB910N headphones. They sport a slim, plastic headband with the usual ear cups hinges. They're lightweight and comfortable to wear, however they feel a bit too compressed for my taste. They come with a USB-C charge port, 3.5mm jack and a decent-length cable inside the box. They support multipoint Bluetooth, which means you can connect to two devices simultaneously if you want.

In my tests, the CH720N's hybrid noise-cancelling tech did great job of reducing background noise, with just two noticeable blips in walking around Waterloo station and London Victoria. These weren't magical sound-silencers which blocked out every sound, however, and they struggled with low-frequency noises like the rumbling engine sounds of trains and buses.

The CH720N's Bluetooth connection was a breeze and showed a low level harmonic distortion. I tested a variety of genres and discovered that they could handle the intricate interplay among instruments very well. It did a fantastic job of controlling the bass in rock tracks and keeping the mix focused.

The Sony Headphones Connect App allows users to modify the CH720N's multipoint connectivity as well as ANC settings to your liking. You can also add a variety of audio presets. You can also make use of the app to enable DSEE which can boost the quality of compressed content and enhances its sound quality.

The WH-CH720N is an excellent value for PS130. It isn't equipped with some of Sony's best features (such as Speak-toChat and Quick Attention) however, it does come with many excellent features. It comes with 360 Reality Audio and a range of smart controls, in addition to the DSEE upscaling feature. The only thing that is not included is LDAC Bluetooth High-Res Audio Support, which I believe would have been a welcomed inclusion.
