The Eufy 11S is one of the most affordable self-emptying robot vacuums available. It ably sucked up dry oats from hard floors and low-pile carpeting in our tests. Its dustbin opens and empties easily, best self-Emptying vacuum making it more convenient to use than some other models at its price range.

It charges at its base and then it resumes cleaning when it's ready. But its obstacle-avoidance technology is caught in cords and socks, and it can't go under low thresholds.

1. iRobot 11S

The 11S is one of the cheaper self-emptying robots available and lots of people seem to adore it. It is great at maneuvering under furniture and is thought to be a good option for people with hard floors or those who want to do light daily cleans. Its suction is weaker than our top picks, however it still does the job. It has a big dust bin as well as a long-lasting battery. The app lets you schedule daily cleanings or choose a specific room. It's also possible to map out your home, which could help the device avoid areas you don't want to go to.

The app is simple to use and has a simple layout. It doesn't have any advanced features, but it's straightforward enough to use and makes it easy to keep track of the progress of your robot. It comes with a tutorial that will guide you through the basics.

While it's a great option for light daily cleanings, we think there are better robot vacuums that are better than the 11S. The iRobot Roomba 694 is more robust and is easier to maintain. It also has lower recurring costs and charges faster. It has a larger bin, is more effective on any type of surface and can scale low-lying obstacles (like electrical cables) more easily.

The RoboVac 11S is a good choice for regular vacuuming. It is a close design to our top choice and is excellent in removing fine dust and larger debris from hard flooring. It's a great choice on carpets with medium or low pile. It has a large dirt container and utilizes BoostIQ for automatic suction power adjustment. It also comes with a remote control that's easy to operate and you can schedule daily cleanings using the app. The battery can last for about an hour and the dustbin is easy to empty by taking it from its dock.

2. Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is an excellent robot vacuum and mop, with a surprising array of automation features. The Roborock S7 MaxV is available in three different versions that include the basic S7 model and the S7 Plus model, and the S7 Ultra. The S7 MaxV Ultra is the only one with an Empty Wash Fillet Dock (or an alternate Auto-Empty Dock). These docks let the robot return to its base after a cleaning session and empty the debris it has collected into a dust collection bag or reservoir, empty the dirty water tank and clean its mopping pad.

The S7's sensors work to stay clear of obstacles and clean the floors. It can identify flooring types and save a map of rooms and zones. It can even determine dirt levels. It can also plan and conduct spot cleaning sessions. It performed well in our standard tests, but it didn't quite match the iRobot Roomba j7+ in our carpet deep clean test.

You can program the S7 using the companion app to run a cleansing cycle according to your schedule. You can choose a cleaning mode like eco or automatic, and the day, week or even a time. You can also select whether the robot will stop if it is running out of energy or encounters an obstacle.

You can still use the S7 even if you don't have a smartphone by connecting an charging dock to the remote control. The controls are difficult initially but they're very efficient after you've become accustomed to them. The power button also functions as the 'Cleaning' option, and the Spot Clean button instructs the robot to clean an area around it. The 'Spot Clean" button also activates the child lock.

In addition to the new mapping features, Roborock improved its mobile app by adding a live view feature that lets you observe what the S7 is doing at home. You can enable it by pressing a particular sequence of buttons on your S7 and then creating an unlock pattern within the mobile app, which you can use whenever you want to know what the S7 is doing.

3. Shark IQ Large

Shark's robot vacuums aren't as a hit than those from iRobot or Roborock. But our tests have shown that Shark's model is among the most effective self-emptying vacuums that are available. It's easy to set up and comes with a large bin which can be easily emptied (albeit loudly) into a trashcan once it is full. It can also be programmed to clean your entire house on a set schedule.

The IQ XL is able to connect to your WiFi at home which allows you to keep track of its progress in cleaning using the Shark app. The app lets you create cleaning schedules, get notifications by push regarding its status it is in, and it can pause and resume cleaning or limit it to one room. It can also be controlled with voice commands through Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The app will inform you what power mode it's currently in--Eco, Normal or Max--but we didn't find that any of the modes made a significant difference to the cleaning performance.

The Shark IQ XL is a great vacuum cleaner. It does a decent job of cleaning floors with no dust and can move well. However the Shark IQ XL feels a little less solidly built than the Roomba 694. It removes a lot of debris on unfinished flooring and does a decent job at maneuvering itself, but it doesn't come even close to the iRobot Roomba i7 in terms of performance on carpeted floors. The i7 is also better-built and feels more durable and sturdy, has less maintenance requirements, has lower monthly costs, and charges faster, while offering similar battery performance, and offers the most advanced automation features, such as no-go zones as well as the ability to select specific rooms to keep clean.

4. iRobot J7+

This robot vac and mop combination is a rare machine that can perform both tasks efficiently. iRobot's Combo j7+ has all the advantages of its j7 counterpart including self-emptying and LiDAR mapping however, it also comes with additional features for both vacuuming and mopping.

The J7+ is more quiet than the majority of robotic vacuums when it's in use and is even quieter when it's mopping. The highest reading we could get on our decibel meter was 64db which is comparable to the sound of normal office chatter.

You can easily create a cleaning schedule and alter the way that dust is cleaned when the canister gets full. The j7+ is also controlled by voice assistants, such as Alexa, Google Assistant and others. The app lets you create and view maps in your home.

In our tests, the J7+ performed well on carpeted and hard floors, and it cleaned up most of the dirt we tossed at it. It isn't able to deal dealing with pet hair, large debris and sand. But it can clean them with a little more effort. It has excellent navigational skills and two cliff sensors to keep it from falling down the stairs or getting stuck on furniture legs.

We did notice a couple of small niggles with the j7+, mainly that it can get caught on rugs and cords and that it doesn't always switch off its mopping when done vacuuming. Otherwise, this is an excellent product that ticks all the right boxes.

The j7+ by iRobot is one of the best self-emptying systems that we've tested. It drops its 14oz/0.4-liter dust canister into the base station, and it automatically emptys itself. This helps reduce the amount of trash you need to dispose of and you'll only need to replace the dust bag that is on the dock around every 60 days or so, based on how often you use the j7+.
