Since the launch of its first-generation PX7 in 2015, Bowers & Wilkins' flagship headphones have been regularly included on top wireless headset lists, putting them firmly in the same category as the likes of Sony WH-1000XM5 and Bose's QuietComfort. The PX7 S2 is the latest version that takes the first generation of headphones up a notch with a boost in ANC performance and a refreshed look.

The bio-cellulose drivers of 40mm in the earcups are placed in a way that they directly hit your eardrums. This gives you an experience with more intimacy than other headphones with a closed back. It's a bold statement, but one that the PX7 S2 is able to deliver on. Vocals are clear and clear and bass is rich and rumbly when you need it to be.

The PX7 S2 is also very excellent at making calls. It provides crisp, clear sound that does not drown out your voice. The Bathys look gorgeous with their black glossy finish and swooping curves reminiscent of Focal's premium open-back Elear and closed-back Celestee headphones. The Bathys are made from premium materials like aluminum and magnesium, which makes them feel solid, comfortable, and well worth the price.

The Bathys Bluetooth headphones offer a crisp, lively sound quality. They easily outperform consumer ANC devices with similar prices such as the Sony XM5/5 and Bose QC45. Direct DAC audio mode allows them to be pushed further, making them a great option for true hifi listeners.

With the Focal and Naim app, users can adjust the playback controls of their headphones, virtual assistant, and Bluetooth pairing preferences. The app allows users to choose between soft and silent intensities for blue Tooth head phones ANC. Users can also adjust the brightness of LEDs on the ear cups of the headphones, and alter the EQ settings. The app is fairly bare-bones but it has enough features to warrant its purchase.

The most notable flaw is that the active noise cancellation doesn't perform as well as the competition. The Sony WHCH720N is excellent pair of wireless over-ear headsets for the price. The noise cancelling technology is fantastic and helps to reduce the background noise. They are great for commuters and travelers. They also have an appealing touch of premium quality with their robust construction and attractive matte finish.

They follow a similar design to Sony's more recent 1000X and XB910N headphones. They have a slim, plastic headband that has the typical hinges for the earcups. They're light and comfortable to wear, although they're a bit compressed for my liking. In the box, they have a USB-C port for charging as well as a 3.5mm jack, and a decent length cable. They allow multipoint Bluetooth pairing, meaning you can connect to two devices at once, if you wish.

In my tests the CH720N's hybrid tech for noise cancellation did a great job at reducing ambient noise. There were only a few glitches while walking around Waterloo Station and London Victoria. They weren't magic sound-silencers that destroyed every sound in the vicinity, however, and they struggled with lower-frequency sounds like the rumbling engine sounds of trains and buses.

Streaming music through the CH720N's Bluetooth connection was smooth, and it displayed a low level of harmonic distortion. I tested a variety of genres and discovered that they were able to handle the intricate interplay among instruments very well. It did an impressive job of controlling the bass in rock tracks and keeping the mix in focus.
