The ION XL is one of the best robot vacuums that are available for hard and carpet floors, and it can also sweep and mop your floor. I tried the ION XL in a family and kitchen room with hardwood floors, area rugs and a standard test for debris. It was a great job vacuuming and removing pet hair, debris and even some of the more difficult to remove carpet crumbs. It also did a great job at moving around my bar stool and didn't get in the way of them as the iRobot J7+ did in this test. The only issue with the ION XL is that it can't detect shoes, cords or toys that are in its path. It is necessary to clean your home before you run this robotic vacuum to avoid them.

The ION XL robot cleaner is not as intelligent as the iRobot J7+, but it's a great alternative if you don't need to spend more than $500 on a robot. It's superior to the less expensive RoboVac 11S in most ways and is easier to maintain and requiring lower recurring costs. It's also better at vacuuming bare flooring and removing pet fur, but isn't as effective on low- or carpets with higher pile.

It's not as well-built however it's an excellent option. The ION XL has a large bin capacity, it can be controlled via an app and voice command, and it is simple to keep up with maintenance. It is also affordable.
