It responds to voice commands better than most competing robots, like the $599 self-emptying Neabot N1 N1.

The iRobot Genius App allows you to control the robot with a the remote or your smartphone. It is also easy to configure the j7+ and customize other settings. It can even guide new users through an onboarding process to aid the robot in understanding their home and plan its cleaning space.

The j7+ has more space for the dustbin than many of the self-emptying robots that we've tested. It is able to hold more debris, however you'll still need to empty the bin every seven to eight months (or more often if have pet hair or any other heavy debris). iRobot offers filters and bags to replace.

The j7+ also has a front-facing camera, which is supposed to help the robot stay clear of hazards such as power cords and pet waste. The camera isn't as good in low light and you might be interested in a competitor that has superior cameras, such as the Roborock S7 MaxV.

The ION XL, Shark's most advanced self-emptying robotic vacuum is an ideal option for those looking to get their home clean without having to lift a finger. It also has exceptional performance. The robot vacuum has large bins that can hold the equivalent of a month's worth dirt, and the base can be programmed to automatically empty it at the end of each cleaning session to store it for a longer period of time. The ION XL is one of the best robot vacuums that are available for carpets and hard flooring, and it can also sweep and mop your floors. You can control the robot using an app or voice commands and you can also create the map of your house to clean each room at the click of a button. The robot can also do great job getting around furniture and even move through stairs and fully-carpeted rooms effortlessly.

I tried the ION XL using our standard debris test in a family room and kitchen with hardwood flooring and area rugs. It did an excellent job vacuuming and clearing pet hair, debris and even some of the most stubborn carpet crumbs. It also did a great job in maneuvering around my bar stools and did not bump into them as the iRobot J7+ did during this test. The only downside to the ION XL is that it can't detect shoes, cords, or toys within its path. It is necessary to clean your home prior to when you use this vacuum if want it to avoid them.

The ION XL may not be as smart as the iRobot j7+, but it's an option if you don't want to spend more than $500 for an automated cleaner. It's better than the eufy RoboVac 11S, in many ways. It's simpler to maintain and has lower recurring costs. It also does a better job of vacuuming floors with no carpet and picking up pet hair, but it can't do as well on lowor high-pile carpet.

It's also not as sturdy as the Roborock S8, but it is still a very solid option. The ION XL is a powerful machine that has a large capacity bin. It can be controlled by an app or voice command and is easy to maintain. It also has a reasonable price.
