2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

While the Anker-owned Eufy has made a name for itself in budget robot vacuums, it's not yet an all-in-one model that can also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that comes with a variety of features that are advanced and can compete with more expensive models.

Eufy's main selling point with this machine is its laser navigation. The X8 makes use of laser mapping technology that is more precise than previous Eufy devices. It takes less time to build a comprehensive map of your home and can store multiple maps. This is great for multi-floored homes.

The X8 is a good vacuum cleaner for floors with no dust. It can easily sling debris under the side brushes and into the 400ml dustbin. Its tyres are also very adept at hugging corners and edges, even though they're circular. It's not the best vacuum mop combo cat litter eater, however, with our tests showing it only removes about 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.

There's a basic mopping option that uses the same water tank as the vacuuming one. This is great for spills that are not too serious, but you can't control the amount of water it consumes. That said, it does an admirable job of removing pet hair, with a better pickup rate than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Known for quietly effective home appliances Miele's RX2 robot vacuum cleaner with mopping is a great choice because of its cleaning power, gorgeous design and great navigation. But it has some operational hiccups which prevent it from being considered as the top overall smart robot vacuum.

Similar to the latest models of iRobot, the RX2 features dual-sensor mapping that uses the LIDAR sensor to map the space and three 3D scanning cameras that can detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. Once mapped the app allows you to designate virtual no-go zones and preferred areas that the robot will automatically clean. You can also initiate an automatic clean or manually change the cleaning mode, view a live feed from the onboard cameras, and more on the main screen.

The RX2's sensors are effective, registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping abilities are exceptional, getting rid of surface litter from carpets with medium pile and also removing embedded dust on bare floors. However, it's not the most flexible robot available. It's not the most efficient climber and has issues with transition strips made of metal.

Many people purchase robot vacuums due to the ease of setting up a schedule using an app, and then forgetting about them for weeks. But it's important that a robot can get the job done and that's the reason our ZDNet staff tested and reviewed several of the most well-known models to help you find the perfect one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This budget robovac that is similar to other, but has a few more features and better performance. Its smart mapping system generates 3D and 2D maps of your house and uses them to navigate and avoid obstacles. It is able to detect common obstacles such as furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors together with a bump sensor, and an infrared drop sensor which keeps it from falling down the stairs is what makes it one of the fastest vacuums we've tested.

In our tests, it was able to climbed over thick shag rugs and didn't get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigational skills were also impressive and its overall score on carpet and bare floors was better than the competition, and it took in 98.5 percent of the surface pet hair and litter from our lab test samples.

The controls are simpler than those of the competition's. There is a cleaning button on the top and you can start it with the app or voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule weekly or daily cleanings, designate no-go zones and view its cleaning history. Covered in stylish dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks stylish in your home. One thing we really like about the 980 is that it uses its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and visual simultaneous mapping and localisation technology (or vSLAM) to remember the floor plan of your home. It will use this information to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path through each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a cleaner vacuum than most competing high-end robot vacuums.

The 980's other features include dual multi-surface rubber brushes which grab dirt from carpet and hard floors and an ejector brush that moves debris into the bin of the robotic vacuum. Its floor tracking sensors aid it navigate between furniture and around edges, while Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from slipping down stairs. It can also return automatically to the base station for easy recharging in between sessions. The battery life and bin capacity of the 980 aren't as impressive as some other robot vacuums. However, it is a solid and reliable machine that will keep floors clean for a long time. hours.
