Door sweeps can be easily nailed in place and are inexpensive. However, they provide little or no protection between the threshold and air.

To fix a damaged window seal using a putty knife, you need to scrape off the caulk. Wearing gloves and eye protection, carefully pry out the glazing points, which are tiny fasteners that fix the glass in the frame's recess, with sharp, pointed edges. After taking out the glazing points, remove the grooves and sand down the wood.
