Active Noise Cancellation

The Bose QuietComfort line is known for its outstanding noise cancellation, but the company produces a variety of premium headphones and earbuds that don't need or offer it. Its products are usually premium priced and made of premium materials. They're also lightweight and sweat-resistant, and comfortable enough to be worn for long periods of time.

The 700s flagship model is a wonderful example. They have an upgraded eight-microphone (six to cancel out sounds, two for picking a voice) and eleven custom ANC modes. You can listen to the world around you or block it completely. They also have a "Conversation Mode" button that allows you to temporarily stop your music in order to make calls or make a brief announcement.

Another excellent feature is the Bose TruSleeve, a removable covering that wraps around the neck and rests on your upper ear for extra noise reduction while you're out and out and about. Compared with our top choice the Sony WH-1000XM5, 700s have much better quality microphones for phone calls. This makes them a great option for those who make calls frequently and need to be clearly heard while on the move.

The headphones can be connected to your mobile device using Bluetooth 4.2 and Bose's proprietary A2DP protocol. You can control the buds via the remote included or the companion app. The app lets you alter the settings for Bose Aware Mode and ANC.

Controls

The 700s don't have physical controls on the ear cups unlike most of Bose's headphones. There's an electronic touch panel on the right ear cup which you can use to swipe and tap your finger. Tap twice to play or pause, swipe up to raise the volume, then down to lower it, and then forward to skip tracks. A single tap answers calls, and a double tap rejects an any call that comes in.

The headset allows you to toggle the "aware" mode that allows a little bit of a view of your environment. It's a great feature for anyone who has to be aware of their environment while listening to music or making phone calls.

A motion detector turns off your headphones after inactivity. It's a welcome addition for those who forget to switch off their headphones or get distracted while using them. You can change the Auto-Off timer setting on your Bose 700 Earphones Headphones through the Bose Connect app.

The app lets you modify the features of the headphones including audio settings, noise cancelling levels, and the languages used for voice prompts. It's also where you'll get updates for your Bose headphones running. You may be asked to divulge some personal information for this to work, but that's expected for this type of app. You can also set your Bluetooth preferences and utilize the battery reading feature to determine how much power is left in your headphones. You can download the free Bose Connect app from your iOS device's App Store or Google Play. The app requires that your tablet or smartphone be connected via Bluetooth.
