Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

A robot vacuum is a great tool for maintaining an orderly home. It will remove pet hair, dust and other surface debris before it becomes a larger problem.

Certain robots can connect to smart assistants such as Alexa or Google Assistant to provide a hands-free environment. Look for models that recharge and then resume cleaning the area they left.

1. iRobot s8

This smart Dreame robot vacuum vacuum and mop combo is a great option for a wide range of homes. It can be used to vacuum and mop, has excellent navigation with both GPS and laser sensors, and comes with a variety of controls and features available via the app. It has a handy feature that lets you create cleaning zones in areas that require extra attention, as well as Keep Out zones in areas where you don't wish it to go. And, like all Roomba devices, it receives new software updates that make it more efficient over time.

It's costly, but it's also one of the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has tested. It comes with a powerful battery that can clean a large area in less than two hours. It can switch between mopping and vacuuming at the touch of a button. And, unlike other self-emptying robots that require you to empty the trash bin after each run, it automatically emptys into an even larger waste container on top of its charging dock.

It also has a number of other features, including intelligent obstacle avoidance that uses a camera along with processor-powered smarts to detect obstacles. It isn't often entangled or entrapped during a cleaning cycle and is also the most effective at avoiding power cables as well as other objects I've tested. It is not as accurate at detecting pet waste or other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

Eufy owned by Anker is now an established brand in the world of low-cost robot vacuums. However, it did not offer a model that could also mop. That changes with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive array of modern features and is able to compete against more expensive models.

The main selling point of Eufy's this machine is its laser navigation. The X8 uses laser mapping technology that is more accurate than the previous Eufy devices. It takes less time to create an accurate map of your home. It also has the ability to store multiple maps. This is ideal for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is still a good vacuum on floors with no dust and can sling debris over its side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin with relative ease. The tyres are adept at securing corners and edges even though they're circular. It's not a fantastic cat litter picker, though our tests have shown it can only remove about 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.

The mopping mode that is the basic one uses the same reservoir of water as the vacuuming mode. This is ideal for spills that are not too serious, but you can't regulate the amount of water it uses. It does, however, do an excellent job of picking up pet hair, with a better percentage of hair removal than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, efficient appliances. It is a stunning design, a great navigation system, and excellent cleaning power. However, it has a few operational oddities which prevent it from being considered as the top overall smart robot vacuum.

Similar to the latest models of iRobot and models, the RX2 features dual-sensor mapping technology that uses an LIDAR sensor to map a room and three 3D scanning cameras that can detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. Once the room has been defined it is possible to assign virtual no-go zones and preferred sections to the robot. You can also alter the cleaning options, begin cleaning manually, or view live feeds from the onboard cameras from the main screen.

The RX2's sensors are effective, registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping capabilities are outstanding, effectively taking away surface debris from carpets of medium pile and also removing embedded dust on bare floors. It's not the most powerful robot on the market. It's not the best climber and has issues with transition strips made of metal.

Some people buy a robot vacuum for the ease of setting up a schedule using an app and not thinking about it for weeks at one time. 4. Shark ION

This budget robovac is a robot that looks like any other, but has several more features and better performance. Its intelligent mapping system creates 2D and Dreame Robot Vacuum 3-D maps of your house and makes use of to navigate and avoid obstacles. It is able to detect common obstacles such as furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors together with a bump sensor, and an infrared drop sensor which keeps it from falling down the stairs make it one of the most flexible vacuums we've tested.

In our tests, it easily moved over large shag rugs and didn't get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation skills were impressive as well and its overall score on carpet and bare floors beat out the competition, and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of surface litter and embedded pet hair from our lab test samples.

The controls are simpler than the competition's. There's a clean button on the top and you can choose to start it by using the app or by voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also create a schedule for weekly or daily cleans, set areas that are not allowed to be cleaned, and check its history of cleaning. Ion is covered in a smart dark gray plastic that looks and feels beautiful in your home. The dust bin on the rear is easy to empty and cleaning the filter is just as simple.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking for a basic low-cost robot vacuum for a reasonable price, the Eufy 11S might be your best bet. It doesn't have many of the more advanced features, like digital mapping and Alexa integration, which are available in higher-end models, but if you don't need these functions, you can save a little money by purchasing this model.

This robot is simple to use and set up. It does not require a smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does come with an remote control that allows you to choose between different modes and adjust suction level. It also allows you to manually send the robovac off on a scheduled cleaning.

In our tests, we discovered that the 11S was extremely efficient at removing dirt and fur from carpets and floors with low pile. Its slim profile allowed it to fit under furniture with low hanging and other items that heavier robots were unable to get at. It could also easily pass over doorway thresholds and change between floors and another.

Like other robots, the 11S can suck up some objects, such as cords drawstrings for hoodies and cat toys. The manufacturer states that you can stop this by keeping these objects off the floor and by using an organizer for cords if you can. It also recommends cleaning the dustbin on a regular basis by replacing the filters and washing or changing the brushes as needed.

6. iRobot Roomba 980

The Roomba is the flagship model of iRobot's robot vacuum. It's expensive but it's the most powerful robot vacuum you can purchase. Its self navigation and environmental mapping are something to behold. It is more sophisticated in its automation than the majority of its competitors, including the ability to set up virtual boundary markers using its mobile application. Although the app isn't the most responsive and the 980 may spin a bit when crossing cables, it's a very capable kyvol robot vacuum vacuum.

One thing we love about the 980 is that it makes use of its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneous mapping and localisation technology (or vSLAM) to memorise the floor plan of your home. It will then use that information to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a better robot vacuum than many high-end robotics.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that capture dirt on hard floors and carpets and the spinning brush that sweeps debris into the robotic vacuum’s bin. The sensors for floor tracking help it navigate between furniture and around edges, while Cliff Detect helps to prevent the Roomba from falling down stairs. It can also return automatically to the base station for simple recharging in between sessions. Although the 980's battery life and bin size isn't as efficient as some other robot vacuums, it's a sturdy and reliable machine that can keep your floors clean for hours at a time.
