It's good at cleaning carpeted floors, however, it's not as effective as the iRobot Roomba i7 in terms of bare floor performance. The i7 is also more robust and feels more durable. It is sturdy, has less maintenance requirements, has lower recurring costs, charges faster, while offering similar battery performance and far more advanced automation features such as no-go zones and the ability to choose certain rooms to be cleaned.

The j7+ performed well in our tests on both carpeted and hard floors, removing all the dirt we threw at it. It isn't able to deal dealing with pet hair, large particles and sand. But it can clean them with a little more effort. It has good navigational abilities and two cliff sensors to keep it from falling down stairs or becoming stuck on furniture legs.

The J7+ has some small flaws, namely that it could get caught on rugs or cords and it doesn't always turn off the mopping function when it's done vacuuming. In all other respects, it's an excellent model that checks all the right boxes.

iRobot j7+ has also one of the best self-emptying vacuum auto-emptying systems we've examined. It dumps its 14oz/0.4-liter dust canister in the base station, and it automatically emptys itself.
