BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost uses the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This stops thieves from replacing the ECU or putting in new locks to bypass the security system.

Like other immobilisers, unlike other immobilisers, the Ghost does not use LEDs or key-fobs. It makes use of the buttons on your vehicle to let you enter a unique disarming sequence that you can only remember.

Stop & Start

If you've been in a BMW or utilized its stop-start feature, you may have noticed the engine continues to run for about 30 seconds after you release the brake pedal. This is due to the BMW engine management system continuously monitoring your vehicle for signals from the ignition key, and when this signal is detected, it will keep running. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car whenever you press a button.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser, which is a next-generation device, doesn't require you to cut OEM wires or add keys or alarms that are made by an aftermarket company. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network, and is programmed with a unique PIN code which is accessed by buttons in your car. This allows you to enter key sequences that are not accessible through the standard media menus. For instance the volume up/down button, or source, air conditioning, cruise control etc. The PIN can be between 4 and 20 characters, making it very difficult for thieves to figure out.

We can also add to the system the service/valet mode. This mode is activated when your vehicle is being serviced to ensure that the Ghost is hidden from the garage. You can activate this by pressing the service button five times on your infotainment device (the system will flash in confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically arm itself when you return.

Service / Valet Mode

The Ghost is a market-leading immobiliser designed to prevent your vehicle from being taken by key cloning or hacking. It works by utilising the factory buttons of your vehicle to create an unique sequence of pushes that only you know, much like pin code security on your mobile phone. It's subtle and extremely effective in deterring even the most determined thieves from ever trying!

When parked at your home or in a meeting and greet situation, the Ghost can be set to service mode. This allows you to start the car using your keys, but stops the engine from restarting until the correct code has been entered. This is ideal for those who need to hand their cars over to valet services or other trusted friends and family members. This lets you take your car to the garage for maintenance, or other maintenance. without having to worry that it might be modified by a mechanic while you are waiting.

When the service or valet mode is activated it will block your BMW from being driven once started, this prevents anyone from test driving it whilst you are away. When you return, it will return to normal stopping your vehicle from being damaged or stolen once again.

The Ghost can be fitted to any BMW. All you need are the correct keys, since the device doesn't use the original remotes, but can be used in conjunction with them. Anti-Hijack

Ghost created this discrete device that is obtrusive, and unobtrusive to fight the growing sophistication of hi-tech thieves. It is designed to prevent thieves from using a key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive off. Ghost connects to your CAN network and utilizes buttons on your vehicle to generate an unique push-sequence which must be entered before the engine can be started.

This will activate the anti-hijack mode and, once it is activated any attempt to start the engine will be immediately blocked. When the system determines that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators. If it is unable to locate the correct code, it will also stop the engine (where it is). The Anti-Hijack feature can be disabled by entering your push sequence, or by enabling service mode, which allows your vehicle to begin and drive, without having to enter your PIN.

If you own an GPS device connected to your BMW and you want to use it to disable the Anti-Hijack function so that you can continue to navigate using your navigation system even when the vehicle is parked. If you own a smartphone, you can also link it to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack function and other functions.

Remote Control

We can connect the Ghost device with your mobile application to allow remote control of keyless start and go functionality. This is useful when you are other than home and valet or mechanic need to start your vehicle. The system allows you to start your car by selecting drive, then leave the service mode without having to use your key fobs. You can also view your vehicle's location in real-time on a map using your smartphone, ideal to track your car while moving around.

The Ghost can be positioned under the dashboard or inside the centre console, it is completely hidden and tamperproof and doesn't require any additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicles CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique PIN code is inserted into it. This pin code has to be chosen prior to the engine starting. This prevents thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU to bypass this system.

If the vehicle is stolen and the Ghost will enter a service mode that disables all functions unless the PIN code is entered or you can utilize the mobile app to disarm it. This feature was created to protect your vehicle from thieves using high-tech devices who employ relay boxes to steal it. This will prevent thieves from using mobile phones to activate your sat-nav system or mp3 player to track your vehicle!

Ghost can also prevent the 'Relay-style Frequency amplification'. This is the most common method of stealing a vehicle using a keyfob that's cloned, or stolen through hacking. Ghost allows you to prevent this theft by installing a device called Secure-A Key in your vehicle. The device is inserted into the key-fob of your vehicle and then removes the battery after a couple of minutes of inactivity. This is possible on all modern PKE key-fobs.
