The IQ's application has advanced mapping and automation capabilities however, it's not able to access no-go zones which are included on iRobot models. The smart-pathing technology allows for greater maneuverability, and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is effective however it can be caught on the tassels of the rug.

In our tests, we found that the IQ handled pet hair with ease. It was able to eliminate the majority of hair on floors that were not bare, and a fair amount on medium-pile rug. It was a little less efficient on shag carpets, where it struggled to reach dirt and dust embedded in the fibers. It did a good job of maneuvering the legs of chairs, Robot Vacuum For Carpet tight spaces, and the wooden base of an IKEA step stool. We did notice it was a bit slower on floors that were not paved but it quickly recovered and performed more thoroughly than other robots we tested.

It comes with a mopping tool that can clean up sticky messes. The iRobot, however, feels better built, has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance and has lower ongoing costs, and can even create virtual no go zones using its companion app. It is able to continue cleaning from where it left off even if the battery runs out before it has finished. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice, which can be an enormous benefit for many users.
