The X8's tyres, despite their circular shape, are adept at grabbing edges and corners. It's not a great kitty litter scooper, however our tests have shown it can only remove about 90% of the fur from hard floors.

There's a basic mopping mode that uses the same water tank as the vacuuming. This is great for spills that aren't serious, but you cannot regulate the amount of water it consumes. That said, it does an excellent job of picking up pet hair, with a higher percentage of hair removal than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

The company is known for its quiet home appliances Miele's RX2 robot vacuum comes with outstanding cleaning power, beautiful design and great navigation. However, it does have some operational hiccups that keep it from ranking as the best overall smart robot vacuum.

Similar to the latest models of iRobot and models, the RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping system that utilizes a LIDAR sensor to map out the space and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real-time. The RX2 has superior sensors that can detect furniture and other obstructions in a flash. Eufy 11S is a great option if you're looking for a robot vacuum that's simple and has no frills at a cost that is low. The model isn't equipped with smart features like Alexa integration and digital mapping, which are available in more expensive models. If you don't need these features, you can save money.

It has more advanced automation than the majority of its competitors, such as the capability to set up virtual boundary markers with its mobile app. While its app isn't the most responsive and the 980 may spin out a bit when moving over cables, it's an extremely efficient robot vacuum.

We really like the 980 due to its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors and visual simultaneity localisation and mapping (or vSLAM) to store your home's floor plan. It then uses this information to design a consistent and efficient cleaning path for every cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a better robot vacuum than many high-end robotics.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface rubber brushes, that pick up dirt from carpet and hard floors and a spinning brush that sweeps debris into the bin of the robotic vacuum. Its floor tracking sensors aid it navigate across furniture and along edges, and Cliff Detect helps to prevent the Roomba from falling down the stairs. And it automatically returns to its base station to ensure hassle-free recharges between sessions. The bin capacity and battery life of the 980 aren't as great as other robot vacuums. However, it's a solid and reliable machine that can keep floors clean for many hours.
