Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

After a number of social media posts that hint at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally revealed its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. The project is dubbed Space Key and created in collaboration with an undisclosed artist, it is inspired by a piece advanced carbon fiber composite material that was shipped to the International Space Station for research purposes.

The digital artwork

The Space Key is a collection of five physical items which unlocks a unique digital artwork by a yet to be identified artist. It was created in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm), the "collector's item" is limited to only five units and will soon be auctioned off.

At the center of each Space Key is a block made of the most advanced carbon fire composite material. It was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research project. After returning to Earth the space key was stamped with an QR code that connects it to the digital component of the Space Key.

Oefner used an inflatable camera that had lenses to capture the individual images, which were then combined into the final photo. The result is a photograph that is completely out of the world. The Space Keys will be auctioned off in the near future, but the exact date and location of the auction haven't yet been revealed yet.
