This book is a great illustration of the author's ability to create a back story for Avon. He also re-creates the bantering dialogue style that Blake's 7 became famous for. However, unless you're a Blake's 7 fan it's not for you. The relationship between Avon and Vila is the central theme of the book and they clearly have a mutual respect for one another, but a strong dislike for each others ruthlessness and cowardice.

Avon's soft side is revealed as he makes the difficult decisions necessary to protect his team. The characters have a lot of depth, and each one has a distinct character that makes them seem real. This is a story you'll want to read more about. The writing is flawless and you get an authentic feeling for the world in which it takes place. It's an amazing piece of writing by an author at the top of her game.

She praises the former California Perfume Company for breaking away from the traditional economic position that women were forced to play during the 19th and 20th century in America. However, she also shows the way in which its rhetoric hid what was actually an extremely radical economic idea.

Avon has a broad selection of women's novels, but also a line of thrillers and crime. The list of children's books is expanding. Avon is the publisher of the best-selling CL Taylor and Katerina Diamond, among many other authors.

Avon's commitment remains to bring the best of commercial fiction to as many people as possible. Avon books are dynamic with a wide range of characters and Avon Books boast some of the most exciting writers of the present. Avon also has a proud record of publishing historical fiction, especially in the field of historical love. It is often called the house that created the genre of historical romance, Avon is still the preferred publisher for authors like Tessa Dare and Lisa Kleypas.

The Author

They enlisted brother and sister writers to form a group of writers called "Love's Leading Ladies" that included Kathleen Woodiwiss, Rosemary Rogers and others. The early Avons were similar to pocketbooks that were in use and were the subject of a lawsuit brought by Pocket Books. However, they were able to succeed due to their focus on mass appeal.

In the 1950s, Avon was selling millions of books every year. Avon's vivid covers and wide appeal allowed them to sell pulp novels that traditional publishing houses would have looked down on. They were so successful, in actual, that the Hearst Corporation bought them in 1959.

The Hearst Corporation changed the direction of Avon's publications, adding more literary works to their collection. Avon began to release digest-format publications in series like Murder Mystery Monthly or Modern Short Story Monthly. Some of these are highly prized today due to their rarity and quality.

The sexually explicit novel The Flame and the Flower by Kathleen Woodiwiss, published in 1972, marked a shift in Avon's direction.
