And unlike other self-emptying robots that require you to empty the dust bin after each run, this one automatically emptys itself into the larger waste container that is above its charging dock.

It also comes with a variety of other options, like intelligent obstacle avoidance which uses cameras in conjunction with processor-powered smarts to recognize obstacles. It isn't often entangled or entrapped during a cleaning cycle and is also the most effective at avoiding power cables and other objects I've tested. It's not as precise in detecting pet waste, or other hazards.

2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

Eufy owned by Anker, has become a household name in the world of low-cost robot vacuums. But it didn't provide an option to mop. This is changing with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive array of modern features that can compete with more expensive models.

The main selling point of Eufy's this machine is its laser navigation. The X8 makes use of the laser mapping system, which is more precise than the previous Eufy devices. It takes less time to create a comprehensive map of your home and can store multiple maps. This is perfect for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is still a decent vacuum for floors that are not clean, slinging debris under its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with relative ease. The X8's tyres, despite having a circular shape, are good at grabbing corners and edges. Our tests showed that it was able to remove 90% of the fur on hard floors.

There's a basic mopping option that uses the same water tank as the vacuuming. This is ideal for spills that are not too dangerous, but you are unable to regulate the amount of water that it uses. However, it does an admirable job of removing pet hair, with a better speed of pickup than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, efficient appliances. It is a stunning design, excellent navigation and a powerful cleaning power. It has some oddities in its operation that keep it from being named the best robot mopping Machine smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 is equipped with a dual-sensor mapping technique that uses a LIDAR to map the space, and a pair 3D scanning cameras to detect and staying clear of obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once the room has been mapped and assigned, you can assign virtual no-go zones and favorite sections to the robot. You can also start an automatic clean or manually change the cleaning mode, view live feeds from the onboard cameras and more from the main screen.

The RX2 has excellent sensors that detect furniture and other obstructions instantly. And its sweeping and suction power are top-of-the-line and cleans up surface debris from carpets with medium piles and dust on floors with no floor. It's not the fastest robotics available. Like many other robots it's not a very good climber and has trouble with things like thresholds made of metal transition strips.

It's not equipped with some advanced features such as Alexa integration and digital mapping found in more expensive models. However, if you don't need these features, you could save money.

This robot is simple to set up and use. It does not require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does come with a remote control which lets you choose between different modes and adjust suction level. It also lets you manually send the robovac off for scheduled cleaning.

In our tests, we discovered that the 11S was extremely effective at cleaning dirt and pet fur from hard floors and low-pile carpets. Its slim profile allowed it to fit under furniture with low hanging and other items that some heavier robots were unable to get at. It was also able to easily pass over doorway thresholds and move from one type of floor to another.

The 11S, like other robots will also suckup some objects, such as cords and cat toys. It also comes with more advanced automation features than most competitors, such as the ability to create virtual boundary markers through its mobile application. It's a capable robot vacuum, even if its application is a bit slow and the 980's wheels spin out when rolling over cables.

We love the 980 due to its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors and visual simultaneity localisation and mapping (or vSLAM) to store the floor plan of your home. It will use this information to create a consistent, efficient cleaning path in every cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a cleaner vacuum than the majority of high-end robot vacuums.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that capture dirt on carpets and hard floors and an ejector brush that spins to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The floor tracking sensor assists it in maneuvering between furniture, along edges and on the stairs. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It also automatically returns to its base station to ensure hassle-free recharging between sessions. The bin capacity and the battery life of the 980 aren't as good as those of other robot vacuums. However, it is a reliable and solid machine that can keep floors clean for many hours.
