BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost uses the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This stops thieves from replacing the ECU or installing an additional lock to circumvent the security system.

The Ghost is unlike other immobilisers in that it does not use key-fobs or LED indicators. Instead it uses the buttons in your vehicle to allow you to select a unique disarm sequence that only you are aware of.

Stop & Start

If you have previously driven a brand new BMW or used the stop start feature then you may have noticed that when you stop the engine the engine will still be running for approximately 30 seconds after you release the brake pedal. This is due to the BMW engine management system constantly monitoring your vehicle for a signal from the ignition key, and once this is found it will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost is a device that stops this by stopping the vehicle when you press the button.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser, which is a next-generation device, does not require you to cut OEM wires or to add key fobs or alarms from the aftermarket. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network, and is programmed with an unique PIN code which is accessed by buttons in your car. This allows you to enter key sequences that aren't accessible through the standard media menus. For instance the volume up/down button, or source air conditioning, cruise control and more. The PIN is between 4 and 20 characters, making it difficult for thieves to figure out.

We can also add to the system the ability to use a service/valet feature. This mode is activated when your vehicle is being maintained so that the Ghost is away from the garage. You can activate this mode by pressing the service button 5 times on your infotainment device (the system will flash with confirmation) and the ghost immobiliser tracker will automatically re-arm when you return.

Ghost immobilisers are highly recommended for top-of-the-line vehicles. It is completely unnoticeable and doesn't require cutting any wiring in the factory and can shut down the engine of your vehicle when the wrong pin code is entered. Service Mode / Valet Mode

The Ghost is the leading immobiliser available. It protects your vehicle from being taken by hacking or key cloning. It makes use of the factory buttons on your vehicle to create a unique sequence of pushes that only you know. It is similar to pin code security for your mobile phone. Its discreet and incredibly effective, not to mention deterring even the most determined thieves from ever trying!

If you're parked at your home or in a meet and greet in a meeting and greet situation, the Ghost can be set to service mode. This allows you to start the car using your keys but prevents the engine from starting again until the correct code is entered. This is ideal for customers who must hand over their cars to valet services, or trusted family members or friends. This lets you bring your vehicle to the garage for maintenance, or other maintenance. without worrying that it might be altered by mechanics while you are waiting.

Once the service / valet mode is activated it will stop your BMW from being able to be driven once started, this prevents anyone from attempting to test drive it whilst you are away. After you return, it will be back to normal driving, stopping your car from being tampered with or stolen again.

The Ghost can be installed on any BMW. All you require are the correct keys because the device does not utilize the original remotes, but can be used with them. We can also provide an optional Bluetooth tag which can be used to disarm the Ghost through an app on your phone (IOS & Android) or in case you don't have an iPhone or aren't happy with it, just press the emergency card once. This is an additional cost and requires a separate Bluetooth pairing.

Anti-Hijack

Ghost developed this discreet, unobtrusive device to combat the growing sophistication of hi-tech thieves. It is designed to prevent thieves from using a key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive off. Ghost connects to your CAN data network, and utilizes the buttons within your vehicle (steering wheel and centre console as well as door panels) to create a unique push sequence which needs to be completed before the engine can be started.

This will activate the anti-hijack feature and once active, any attempt to start the engine will be stopped. Once the system detects that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators. If it fails to identify the correct code it will also stop the engine (where it is). The Anti-Hijack feature is disabled by entering your push sequence or by entering service mode which allows your car to begin and drive, without having to enter your PIN.

If you have an GPS device connected to your BMW, you can use it to disable the Anti-Hijack function so that you can continue to use your navigation system when the vehicle is in a parking spot. You can also use your smartphone to control the anti-theft feature as well as other functions.

Remote Control

We can connect the Ghost device to your mobile application to allow remote control of keyless start and go capabilities. This is useful when you have to go somewhere else and valet or mechanic need to start your car. The system allows you to start the vehicle by selecting drive, then leave the service mode without having to use your key fobs. You can also track your vehicle's location on a map in real-time on your smartphone.

The Ghost can be positioned in the dashboard area, or in the centre console. It is completely concealed and tamper-proof. It does not require any additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicles CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique PIN code is inserted into it. This pin code needs to be selected before the vehicle is started. This stops thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU in order to bypass this system.

If the vehicle is stolen, the Ghost will go into service mode and disable all functions until you have the PIN code or the mobile application to disarm it. This feature was created to safeguard your vehicle from high tech criminals who are using relay boxes to steal your car. It will even stop the thieves from being able to use their mobile phone to activate your sat-nav or mp3 player to locate your car!

Ghost can also stop "Relay-style Frequency Amplification". This is the most common method of stealing a vehicle with a keyfob which has been copied, or stolen by hacking. Ghost can help you prevent this theft by installing a device called Secure-A Key in your vehicle. The device installs inside the key-fob of your vehicle and then disconnects the battery after a short period of inactivity. This is possible on all modern PKE key-fobs.
