This Samsung FlexZone side-by-side refrigerator is an ideal option for families who would like the convenience of having a freezer and fridge in one. It's not as spacious than top-of-the-line French door models, however it offers a lot of useful features and is an excellent alternative for those with small kitchens.

There's also a more affordable SmartThings Hub Dongle that supports Z-Wave and Zigbee and Thread with support to be added soon.

Once you've got your smart fridge, smartphone and hub connected it's a breeze to use. SmartThings allows you to manage your refrigerator from anywhere. Notifications are sent to your phone when the fridge is closed or opened. You can create schedules, adjust the temperature and even set reminders.

SmartThings is an early member of the Home Connectivity Alliance, which is striving to make the most important home appliances from a range of manufacturers interoperable. It could mean that you'll be able control your Samsung washer and dryer, Electrolux oven and LG television through the same app in the near future.

SmartThings isn't as popular as Alexa or Google Assistant but it does have some big names on its list, like Arlo Nest, Belkin, and Lifx. It's also compatible with Matter, which allows for accessories to connect regardless of brand. It's not as great as the Alexa integration into your fridge but it is an improvement over last year's model.

Family Hub is not only an app for managing your entertainment and food It also manages Samsung's SmartThings platform. It can be used to control Matter-compatible devices such as lights, plugs, and locks.

Samsung's refrigerator is a few years old and even though it has a lot of functionality however, its touchscreen capabilities aren't something that majority of people would consider essential. They're more fun, and somewhat frivolous features than any other feature.

It could change when more software updates are released, but for now these models are best suited to those who want the most comprehensive connected fridge they can get. You can save money by purchasing a model without the Family Hub if you're not one of these people. If you have many smart home devices you need to control with one screen, or you like the idea of a refrigerator freezer samsung equipped with a large touchscreen, it could be worth the cost.
