Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers love the remote control features of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their vehicle or start the motor and even locate it using an app on their smartphone.

Put the key fob face up on a clean surface. Find the button that will release it. Put a coin between the cover of the fob and the fob, then slowly pull it up.

Locking the Door

Switching off the Alarm

Modern key fobs offer many advantages over a standard mechanical car key. However, they're not able to work in a perfect way for a long time, and their batteries eventually go out of service. If you're in a hurry or don't want to go to a shop to have your key fob reprogrammed you can attempt to get it to work at home.

Set out your key fobs as well as batteries and additional keys on a clean surface. Find the small black button at the lower left corner of the key fob, and move it to the right. The cover will begin to loosen and fall off leaving the key's mechanical blade underneath.

You can unlock all doors as well as the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's key twice. By pressing the lock button for 2 seconds, you will be able to close the windows and the sunroof when they're equipped. Reconnect the battery and the alarm should cease. If it doesn't, the owners manual should provide a way to reset the alarm.
