Robot vacuums sweep pet hair, lint, and dust from floors before they settle. They also can avoid obstacles like stairs and other obstructions, including tippy furniture.

Most robotic vacs require some maintenance, such as emptying (and occasionally, rinsing) the bin and wiping cameras and sensors. Additionally, they must be plugged into an electrical source. A lot of them have apps for smartphones for scheduling, adjusting settings, and more.

This model is equipped with a HEPA-filter to assist those who suffer from allergies. It also has an extremely powerful battery that can clean for two hours, and return to its dock automatically when the bin is full.

It also has the feature of smart mapping which uses multiple sensors to identify the areas of your home that require attention and make a tidy path around them. This technology is very efficient in navigating around toys left on the floor, or furniture legs sticking out underneath objects. It also has a camera sensor that will snap the Roomba back to the real world when it starts drifting from its intended location.

iRobot has also introduced a new set of rollers beneath the bottom of the Roomba that don't have bristles and, best Robot sweeper And mop therefore, tend to resist tangles more than the previous models. They're also a bit taller than previous rollers and are able to fit under low couches and beds and are designed to allow this model to move more easily across different floor types.

What sets the Roomba 980 apart from other models with a higher-end price tag, though, is its inclusion of a new dirt detection feature that uses a camera to spot particles of dirt embedded. This is a great improvement over the previous version that relied on the sensor-driven pseudorandom coverage method to bounce around the room and clean it at minimum three times from various angles.

In our tests of its performance, the Roomba 980 did well on carpets and hard flooring. Its score on the low pile carpet was excellent and it also scored a good score on mid pile too. It did a great job getting rid of pet hair, but had a difficult time with the thick and long pet hair that was stuck together.

The Roomba 980 is still one of the top performing robots we've reviewed, despite these minor limitations. It's also not as expensive as other top-of the-line models. It's got plenty of features that we'd like to find in a flagship model however, it doesn't come with all the fancy app-enabled functions or smart home integration are found in other top contenders.

The iRobot Roomba can be set up quickly and is available for use right away. After you have removed the pull tab for the battery and yellow bin insert from its undercarriage, all you have to do is plug it into its Home Base docking station or a wall socket, hit its large "Clean" button and let it go to work. It will return to its dock when its battery runs out or it's full of debris, and it has indicators at the top of the device to indicate that its bin is full, it requires recharging or if its Wi-Fi signal has gone out.
