Once you've connected your smart fridge to your smartphone and hub, it is very simple to use. SmartThings lets you manage your refrigerator from anywhere. Notifications are sent to your smartphone when the refrigerator is opened or closed. You can set up schedules, change the temperature and even set reminders.

SmartThings is an early member of the Home Connectivity Alliance, which is trying to make major appliances in the home from a variety of manufacturers compatible. samsung fridges's refrigerator is a few years old and even though it has a lot of functionality but its touchscreen features aren't a feature most people would consider essential. They're more fun and semi-frivolous extras than any other feature.

This may change when there are more software updates, but at present these models are the best for those who wish to have the most complete connected refrigerator possible. If you aren't one of those, you could choose a lower-cost model without the Family Hub to save some money. If you have many smart home devices you need to control with one screen, or you like the idea of having a refrigerator with a giant touchscreen, it could be worth the cost.
