Roborock has redesigned the S8 Pro Ultra compared to the model released last year, focusing on avoiding obstructions and cleaning power. The result is a more efficient, reliable and cleaner machine. It now comes with a more potent suction motor as well as two rubber rollers in its floorhead, which help in taking debris off of bare floors and clearing pet hair off carpet. Its battery is now rated to last up to 180 minutes, and it can be charged on a schedule to help lower electricity costs.

The most significant change is the robot's brand new RockDock Ultra docking station, which goes beyond empty and clean its contents after every cleaning cycle. The app allows you to create a 3D home map as well as designate zones that are not to be visited and schedule specific cleaning sessions. The iRobot Genius App allows you to control the robot via remote or smartphone. It is also easy to set up the j7+ and customize other settings. It can even guide new users through the onboarding procedure to assist the robot in learning their home and plan its space for cleaning.

The j7+ uses an extra-large dust bin than many of the other self-emptying robot vacuums we've tried. This lets it hold more debris, but you'll still need to empty it every seven to eight months (or more often if you have lots of pet hair or other large debris). iRobot sells filters and bags that can be replaced separately.

Another great feature is the front camera of the j7+, which is advertised to help the robot identify dangers such as power cords and pet waste and avoid them. The camera doesn't work as well in low lighting however, so you might want to consider a rival with a better-performing camera, like the Roborock S7 MaxV.

I was also pleased to find that when docked, the iRobot j7+ will automatically empty its dust bin into Clean Base Automatic Dirt disposal. This is a significant improvement over the majority of competitors that require you to open and empty the bag manually. This tiny detail will make your life easier and less stressful.

3. Ecovacs Deebot T10 Omni

The Deebot T10 is a sleek and stylish robot that delivers impressive cleaning performance. It offers 5000Pa suction and comes equipped with a main floating brush as well as dual-sided brushes that can take care of dirt on hard floors and in corners. It comes with a powerful battery that powers both mopping and vacuuming and has the capability to return to its dock if it's running low on power. Smart features include an interactive home map, 3D mapping, and automatic cleaning schedules.

The T10 Omni, as with other Deebot models, has an additional tank to wash and dry its mopping pad to keep out cross-contamination. The T10's cleaning tank can hold up to 4L of clean water, which will cover approximately 400 square meters. It features a unique design that allows it to fill and drain without touching the pad or getting wet.

One thing that sets the T10 apart from other robot vacuums is its advanced mapping technology, which produces an accurate three-dimensional map of your home's layout. This allows the robot to detect obstacles more accurately and adapt its course, enhancing overall cleaning efficiency.

Its smart features also include a premium microphone that responds to voice commands and the ECOVACS app is easy to use and provides a wide range of customizable settings. The only issue is the absence of a remote control. This could be a niggle for certain users.

The T10 OMNI is great at cleaning pet hair. After two cleaning cycles, it was able take the majority of pet hair from my carpets. It even managed to navigate around furniture that was blocking its path.

Although it's not as hands-free as the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the T10 Omni is still an excellent option for those looking for a self-emptying robot vacuum and mop. The mop is just as powerful as its vacuums, and it has an attractive design than the Roomba. The T10's smart features are more than enough to make up for the absence of the remote. You can easily start or stop a cleaning process or schedule it, and change device settings with the app.

4. Shark ION XL

Shark's top self-emptying robot vacuum, the ION XL is an excellent option for those who want hands-off cleaning with a high level of performance. The vacuum comes with a large bin that can store up to a month's worth dirt. It can be set to empty the bin at the end of every cleaning session for long-term storage. The ION XL is one of the top robot vacuums on the market, suitable for hard and carpet floors. It can also sweep and mop your floors. You can control the robot through an app or voice commands. You can also create a map to clean your home on demand. The robot is also able to navigate around furniture and move through carpeted and stairs with ease.

I tested the IONXL using our standard debris test in a family room as well as a kitchen with hardwood flooring and area rug. It did an excellent job vacuuming, removing pet hair and debris off the floors, and took care of some of the more difficult dust particles on carpets. It was also good at moving and didn't hit my barstools like the iRobot J7+ did in this test. The only drawback is that the ION XL is unable to detect cords, toys and shoes in its path, so you will have to pre-clean your house before using this vacuum to avoid these items.

The ION XL robotic cleaner isn't as smart as the iRobot j7+ but it's a good alternative if you don't want to spend over $500 on a robot vacuums self emptying. It's better than the RoboVac 11S, in many ways. It's easier to maintain and has lower costs for recurring maintenance. It also performs better in vacuuming floors that aren't clean and picking up pet hair, but it can't perform as well on lowor high-pile carpet.

It is also not as sturdy as the Roborock S8, Self Emptying Vacuum but it is still a very solid option. The ION XL is a powerful machine with a large capacity bin. It is controlled by an app or a voice command and is easy to maintain. It also comes at an affordable price.
