The IQ app offers some advanced mapping and automated features, however it lacks no-go zones. They are only available on iRobot robots. The smart-pathing technology allows for greater maneuverability and the high-pile feature of its carpet cleaning mode is effective however it can be stuck on rug tassels.

In our tests, we found that the IQ was able to handle pet hair effectively. It was able to eliminate lots of debris on floors that were unfinished, and a fair amount on medium-pile rug. It was less efficient with shag carpets. It was unable to reach dirt and dust buried within the fibers. It did a decent job of maneuvering around chair legs and tight spaces as well as the base of a wooden IKEA step stool. It was slower on floors that were not paved but it was able to recover speed and did better than other robots we tested.

The IQ is a better choice over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a bigger dust bin and lasts longer on a charge and is more capable of getting over obstacles. It comes with mopping tools that are able to clean up sticky debris. The iRobot however, is better constructed and has fewer parts that require maintenance or replacement and has lower ongoing costs, and can even create virtual no-go zones using its companion app. It is able to continue cleaning from the point it started, even if its battery runs out before it's finished.
