1. iRobot S8

While Anker-owned Eufy has made a name for itself in budget robot vacuums, it's not yet an all-in-one model that could also mop. That's changed with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive set of modern features and robot vacuum and mop is able to compete with more expensive models.

Laser navigation is the main selling point of this machine. The X8 utilizes the laser mapping system, which is more accurate than previous Eufy devices. It takes less time to create a comprehensive map of your home. It can also store multiple maps. This is great for multi-floored homes.

The X8 is a great vacuum cleaner for floors with no dust. It is able to easily throw debris under the side brushes and into its 400ml dustbin. While this is a good option for spills that are not too large however, you aren't able to regulate the amount of water it is using which can limit its effectiveness on more severe staining. It's effective in removing hair from pets. It has a higher pick-up rate than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is known for its quiet, powerful appliances. It features a stunning design, excellent navigation and a powerful cleaning power. It has some oddities in its operation, which prevent it from being considered the top smart robot vacuum.

Like iRobot's latest models like the RX2 has a dual-sensor mapping system which uses the LIDAR sensor to map the space and three 3D scanning cameras that can detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. And its sweeping and suction power are top of the line and cleans up surface debris from medium-pile carpeting and embedded dust in bare floors. But it's not the most efficient robot available. Like many other robots, it's not a good climber and has issues with things like metal threshold transition strips.

4. Shark ION

This budget robovac is a robot that looks like any other, but comes with a few more features and a better performance. Its intelligent mapping system creates 2D and 3D maps of your home and uses them to navigate around obstacles and avoid them. It's even able to spot common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real time. This combination of sensors together with a bump sensor, and an infrared drop sensor which keeps it from falling down the stairs, makes it one of the fastest vacs we've tested.

In our tests, it was able to moved over large shag rug and didn't get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation abilities were also impressive. Its composite score for carpet and bare flooring beats the competition and it picked up 98.5 percent of surface litter and embedded dog hair that we tested in our lab samples.

The controls are less basic than the competition's. There's a clean button at the top, and you can choose to start it using the app or voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set a schedule for daily or weekly cleans, set areas that are not allowed to be cleaned, and check its history of cleaning. 5. Eufy 11S

Eufy 11S is a good option for those looking for an automated vacuum cleaner that is simple and doesn't have any frills at a reasonable price. During our tests, we discovered that the 11S was extremely efficient at removing dirt and pet fur from carpets and floors with low pile. While its application is a bit slow and the 980 may spin out a bit while moving over cables, it's a very capable robot vacuum.

We really like the 980 because it uses its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneity mapping and localisation (or vSLAM) to remember the floor plan of your home. It then uses this information to design a consistent and efficient cleaning path for every cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a better robot vacuum than many high-end robotics.

Other features include two multi-surface rubber brushes which grab dirt from hard floors and carpet as well as a spinning brush that sweeps debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The sensors for floor tracking help it navigate across furniture and along edges, and Cliff Detect helps to prevent the Roomba from slipping down stairs. It will also return to the base station for easy charging between sessions. The bin capacity and the battery life of the 980 aren't as impressive as some other robot vacuums. However, it's a solid and reliable machine that will keep floors clean for many hours.
