This robot is equally home on bare floors as it is on carpet. Its suction strength of 2,000Pa is able to take on carpets with heavy-duty. It can clean pet hair from cracks and crevices even on bare floors. It's sturdy, moves effortlessly, and can be operated using voice commands from Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for hands-free operation. The battery is smaller than other models, but still enough to power most homes.

The Neato Q5 Pro robot vacuum is a multi-functional machine that excels in cleaning bare floors. It also cleans up a lot of debris from high and low pile carpet. It feels impressively built, has a comprehensive set of navigation features and is simple to maintain. However it has a lower capacity battery than other models and is subject to higher cost-per-use.

The Q5 is among the slowest-moving robots we've tested, but it has an effective layout algorithm that doesn't require the assistance of a babysitter after the first time it traverses a space. It starts by mapping out a perimeter, then fills in the interior using the lines of a series. When it's done it returns to its charging station, or its base if it started away from the base.

It did a great job cleaning on hardwood flooring, sucking up at least 88% of dirt for each test. It had a little more trouble on low and high carpet however, it was better than the standard unit. It also comes with mopping attachments to remove wet spills. We didn't test it.

Its maneuverability is higher than average for a robot with lidar, as it is capable of gliding over furniture and other obstacles. Its navigation system can recognize stairs and multiple floor levels that is a nice touch that allows it to efficiently navigate multi-story homes. It can also identify individual room types when you select them in the app. It can also adjust its power level, define no-go zones and show an interactive map of the current cleaning area.
