You can replace the Volvo key fob batteries on your own by following a few simple steps. Choose a clean surface to work on. Then, you can lay out all of the tools you need. Then, locate the battery's hole, and open it using the flathead, a coin, or another similar tool. Next, carefully pry out the battery by lifting the side closest to the hook for the key-ring. Make sure you wear rubber gloves to avoid damaging the clips or electronic contact surfaces.

Place the new battery in the socket after the older one was removed. Ensure that the positive side of the battery is facing up and that all clips are seated. Slide the cover downwards towards the key-ring area until it loosens and falls off. Then, remove the cover to reveal the hidden mechanical key blade. It can be used to unlock your car from the driver's door in the event that you've lost or broken the key fob.

Note: Older Volvos use a different type of battery one called the CR2025. CR2025 batteries have 7 tenths of one millimeter less than CR2032 which means you'll need to be extra careful when replacing your battery.
