After a series of social media posts hinting at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally revealed its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. The project is dubbed Space Key and developed in collaboration with an unknown artist and built on a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material that was delivered to the International Space Station for research purposes.

The project is dubbed the Space Key, it consists of five physical items that unlock an exclusive digital artwork NFT created by an artist yet to be identified. The "collectors' piece" was developed in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to five units. It will be auctioned off soon.

Each Space Key contains a block composed of carbon-fired composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station as part of a research project in 2019. After returning to Earth the Space Key was engraved with the QR code which links it to the digital component of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a separate moment that occurs seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Each of the five images was taken by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner used a balloon with a camera that captured each of the individual shots which were later merged into the final image. The result is a truly out of this world photo that captures the beauty of the Earth as well as the futuristic, hyper-realistic look of the car erupting from it. The Space Keys will be auctioned off soon, but the exact date and time of the event haven't been announced yet.

Each one will be sold by itself and the winner will be awarded an original digital art work created by the renowned photographer Fabian Oefner, which captures the five different moments the Space Key passed during its flight through space.
