Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner, Bentley's custom coachbuilding unit, has designed a unique keycase to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Bentley Key fob Programming brand. Function

The key is made from vegetable tanned leather. It takes about two days to create each one. It is hand cut shape, sewn, sealed and polished to provide an excellent finish. It is compact and strong and fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its style is similar to the Volkswagen Phaeton large car's key however it feels heavier and has a more luxurious feel.

It also has Secure-A-Key which can help prevent theft of keys that are keyless. This device is placed inside the remote-control fob, and disables it if the key is not used for more than a few minutes. It prevents thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which can be used to unlock and start the car.

Bentley estimates that it takes around 500 man hours to design and assemble the average Mulsanne. A key to that time-consuming effort is a deliberate decision to embrace modern tech.
