1. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni

The X2 Omni robot vacuum-mop is the most recent in the Ecovacs range of hybrid robot vacuum mops. This wet/dry model includes the updated AIVI 3D2.0 lidar system Ecovacs, which offers enhanced mapping and obstruction-free operation. It uses dual-laser LiDAR similar to the kind you'll find in self-driving vehicles -- and can scan up to 32 feet wide by 270 degrees. This results in more precise mapping, faster response times, and higher cleaning accuracy.

It also has a rotating mopping pad constructed of chenille, which makes it much easier to scrub difficult areas more effectively than traditional mop. In my testing, the X2 Omni took just over one minute to wash its pad and get to work. I also noticed that it was more precise than other models that seemed to follow a gridded route around rooms. It was able navigate corners and edges of my rooms, and also make "Zambani patterns" both in and out of the middle of the room. It returned to its OMNI Station frequently to empty the dustbin and clean the mop with hot water prior to beginning another cleaning task.

The X2 Omni is just as simple to use and set up as other Ecovacs products. Place the dock in its place then plug it in and connect it to your home WiFi network. It takes just about a minute. Then, you're able to launch the app and start with your first cleaning task. I was able to dive into the settings and personalize my floor plan within about 15 minutes, which included creating zones that are restricted to sweep and mop, reworking my wall-mounted furniture placements, and so on. The X2 Omni did a great job during my tests, scoring outstanding scores in cleaning pet hair and debris cleaning, as well as near-perfect results in edge and crevice cleaning.

2. Deebot T10 Omni

The EcoVACS T10 Omni is an extremely powerful vacuum and mopping machine. The main flaw of the T10 Omni is that it's unable to switch between vacuuming and mopping in a single run. The T10 Omni has two modes that require you to attach mop heads to and from the vacuum depending on your requirements. This is fine for the majority of households, but not so for those with busy lives.

However, the Deebot T10 Omni is a superb robot vacuum that has impressive results in our tests on pet hair. It removed more than 96% of the debris from our hardwood floors. This is a fantastic performance. It did a great job on carpets and tiles, removing 99% of dirt.

This robot mop and vacuum has an enormous docking station that offers cool water auto-cleaning for its mop pads, auto-emptying into a 3L bag that is easy to replace, and hot-air drying for quick and simple maintenance. It also has a large tank of water that allows it to be rinsed and dried more frequently between mopping sessions.

Like other mopping machines such as the Deebot T10, this one has a wash tray in its base, which rinses and dries the mop pads when it uses them. It does not have a removable tray, so dust, dirt and other grime will gradually build up at the bottom.

3. RoboVac X8 hybrid

This is the first mopping model from Anker which is well-known for its robot vacuums. It comes with enhanced smarts, multiple map support and LIDAR scanning, as well as twin turbine suction technology that adapts to the surface you're cleaning. It's a tempting mid-range robot vacuum cleaner however it doesn't exactly live up to its promise to be an all-in-one solution for floor cleaning.

The X8 Hybrid appears to be a standard robotic cleaner from the top. It has a circular form, the sweeping wheels, as well as an elevated sensor area. You can also use these to set no-go zones and view real-time maps. It's a little chatty, too, and will inform you of what it plans to do next ("start cleaning") or alert you that something's wrong (it doesn't have enough power to charge, for instance).

4. ILIFE A4s

This model of high-tech vacuum can remove pet hair, kibble and other messes with remarkable effectiveness. It also moves effortlessly around furniture legs. It also comes with an impressive feature set that includes two cleaning modes as well as a self-emptying dock and a real-time obstacle-avoiding technology. It's Wi-Fi enabled and best controlled through the Neato app where cleaning can be scheduled and the overall maintenance needs monitored. The X2 Omni is an excellent choice for large homes with carpet, hard floors and carpet, but it requires some planning ahead to avoid getting stuck on power cords, toys or other obstacles that might be unexpected.

In our hardwood floor and kibble tests, this robot performed well and was able to pick up everything from a single grain of rice up to many pieces of dog food in just one sweep. It had some difficulties transitioning to rugs but in general this vacuum cleaner is ideal for large rooms with both types of flooring and a mix of pets.

The A4s Pro is expensive, but it's a great purchase for those who want to be able to leave the house with no hands on so they can do other things or perform household chores. The A4s Pro also offers a convenient auto cleaning mode that automatically boosts suction power to tackle tough dirt and spills, and it is equipped with an electric ElectroWall that lets you place boundaries where the robot isn't permitted to be allowed to enter.

This budget-friendly choice from a popular upstart brand is the cheapest robot we've tested yet and offers an exceptional value for the price. The basic navigation system is based on a very basic random pathing algorithm and it's not equipped to map rooms. This renders it less efficient than the other models on this list. It's still able get under furniture and into corners. And its mopping mode was very effective in our tests, picking up stray hair and other debris.

5. Shark iQ

Shark's iQ may not be as sturdy as the Roomba S9, but it does better overall at cleaning up pet hair on all surfaces. It gets rid of floors with less thoroughly and does a fair job on low-pile carpet and uses smart-pathing navigational technology for superior maneuverability. It can be sent to a specific area, and includes a variety of advanced automation options, including no-go zones and schedules. It also allows you to suspend and resume cleaning sessions which is ideal for homes that have pets.

Its self-cleaning brushroll is able to prevent tangles and can carry up to 30 day's worth of dirt. It comes with angled side brushes to reach into corners and a multi-stage filter system that collects dust, allergens, and dander.

This robot vacuum is well-built and feels solid. It is compatible with an app on your smartphone that allows you to change the vacuum's settings and schedule cleaning times ahead of time. The app lets you view the remaining battery life of the iQ and receive push notifications in the event of any problems during a cleaning session. You can use your voice to control it with an Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant device If you do not have either of these devices, you can mark areas with physical boundary marker strips.

The iQ is great in cleaning floors with no dirt, and it does well on shaggy and low-pile carpets. However it's not able to provide the same level of autonomy as our top picks. It's also costly, and its recurring costs can become expensive over time.
