Window Sash Repairs

The sash is an interior framing that moves vertically either up or down in windows that are open. This article will teach you how to perform simple sash repairs.

Weather Stripping

The first step in repair sash windows is to address weather stripping. It's found on both the sash as well as the frame. It can cause drafts if damaged or is loose. Then, remove the sash and mark its height and width to find replacement weather stripping to match.

This will protect the putty and give your sash an updated appearance.

Sash Hardware

The hardware that holds window sashes is susceptible to wear and tear due to age and use and the result could be a window or door that won't open or close easily. The good news is that fixing and replacing this hardware is usually relatively easy and affordable. If you're having trouble opening a sash, spray some lubricant into the jamb channel. Sash Weights

Sash weights are able to be replaced to enhance the efficiency of your window sash and decrease energy costs.
