Private ADHD Titration

There is currently a nationwide shortage of medications that treat ADHD symptoms. This is due to manufacturing problems and the growing demand for ADHD medications worldwide.

Our service offers private ADHD titration instead of waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our fees for assessments include the cost of one prescription.

Titration

A highly experienced consultant psychiatrist will conduct a thorough assessment of your ADHD. This includes a thorough medical history, and an evaluation using the common ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.

After your assessment, you will be informed that medication may be beneficial for your particular situation. The discussion will take place at your follow-up appointment (which could be in person, via video link, or over the phone). Your physician will go over the various options for medications available. If you decide to start taking medication, we will offer you the option of titrating your dose to optimize the benefits/side-effects balance for you.

This is a process which may take several weeks. It requires adjusting your child's dosage gradually until the proper balance is reached. It's not uncommon to have to titrate as high as three different medicines before you can find the one that best suits your child's ADHD. It is important that parents take part in the titration process and be aware of their child's behavior so they can let the doctors know whether the medication is working or causing adverse effects.

If you decide to go back to NHS treatment you will be issued a private prescription for your medication. You will have to pay the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation fee. You'll need to attend six-monthly appointments to monitor your medication. This includes pulse and blood pressure measurements. Annual reviews are also required.

Follow-up appointments

Once the assessment has been completed, you will be able to make appointment with the psychiatrist as necessary. The appointment is typically conducted by video conference using zoom. In some circumstances, it might be possible for an audio-only appointment to be conducted (again at an additional cost).

We will then discuss treatment options and decide on an individualised, bespoke ADHD medication adjustment. This will include a discussion and review of your dosage of medication, as well as any side effects that you might be experiencing. These titrations cost PS150 for face-to-face sessions and PS60 via video or telephone consultation. Costs for medication are extra and are paid directly to the pharmacy.

Medication
