Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

1. iRobot S8

This smart robot vacuum and mop combination is a great choice for many homes. It can be used to vacuum and mop and has a great navigation system that includes both GPS and laser sensors and offers a broad range of features and controls that are accessible via the app. It also has a handy feature that lets you create cleaning zones in areas that require extra attention, as well as Keep Out zones in areas you do not want it to go. As with all Roomba devices, it is updated with new software updates that make it even better over time.

It's expensive but also one of the most sophisticated robot vacuums ZDNet has ever tested. It comes with a powerful battery that can sweep the entire house in less than two hours. It's got a range of other features that make it an excellent choice for homes with a lot of space that include intelligent obstacle avoidance that uses the camera as well as processor-powered intelligents to identify obstacles. It is rarely derailed or stuck during a cleaning cycle. In my tests, it was the best at avoiding objects like power cables. It is not as accurate in detecting pet waste or other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

While Anker-owned Eufy has made its name in low-cost robot vacuums it hasn't previously offered an all-in-one model which can also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that offers a range of advanced features, and is able to compete with more expensive models.

Laser navigation is the primary selling point of this machine. The X8 uses laser mapping technology that is more precise than the previous Eufy devices. It also takes a lot less time to build up a comprehensive picture of your home and can store multiple maps, which is ideal for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is a good vacuum cleaner for floors with no dust. It is able to effortlessly sling debris under the side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin. The Tyres of the X8, despite their circular shape, are efficient at grabbing corners and edges. It's not the best cat litter eater, however as our tests show it only removes about 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.

The basic mopping mode utilizes the same water reservoir as the vacuuming mode. This is great for spills that are not too dangerous, but you are unable to regulate the amount of water it consumes. It is effective at picking up pet hair. It has a higher percentage of hair removal than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, effective appliances. It has a beautiful design, a great navigation system and an impressive cleaning power. It has some oddities in its operation, which prevent it from being considered the best smart robot vacuum.

Like the latest models from iRobot and models, the RX2 comes with dual-sensor mapping technology that uses the LIDAR sensor to map out an area and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to identify and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. Once the room is mapped, the app lets you create virtual no-go zones as well as preferred areas that the robot will automatically clean. You can also manually change cleaning modes, initiate an automatic clean or watch a live feed of the onboard cameras from the main screen.

The sensors of the RX2 work well, registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping capabilities are exceptional, removing surface litter from medium pile carpeting as well as embedded dust on bare floors. However, it's not exactly the most efficient robot available. It's not the best climber and has issues with transition strips made of metal.

This budget robovac is a robot that looks like any other, but has several more features and a better performance. It can even detect common obstacles such as furniture legs and power cords in real-time. The combination of sensors with a bump detector and an infrared sensor to keep the vacuum away from stairs makes it one of our most flexible vacuums.

In our tests, it was able to climbed over thick shag rug and didn't end up stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation abilities were also impressive; its composite score in carpet and bare floors topped the competition. It took in 98.5 percent of the surface pet hair and litter from our lab test samples.

Its controls are a bit simpler than competitors. There's an uniform cleaning button on the top, home and you can start it from the app or via voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, designate no-go zones and view its history of cleaning. Ion is covered in a smart dark gray plastic that feels and looks attractive in your home. The dust bin on the rear is easily accessible to empty, and the removal of the filters is also a breeze.

5. Eufy 11S

Eufy 11S is an excellent choice if you want an automated vacuum cleaner that is simple and doesn't have any frills at a reasonable price. It lacks some of the advanced features, such as digital mapping and Alexa integration, found in higher-end models but if you don't need those functions you can save money by purchasing this model.

The robot is simple to set up and use. It does not require a smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does come with the remote control that lets you choose between different modes and adjust suction level. You can also set up a manual schedule to assign the robotvac to an cleaning schedule.

In our tests, the 11S was extremely efficient in removing pet hair and dirt from hard floors and carpets with low pile. Its slim profile allowed it to reach under furniture and other low items that more bulkier robots couldn't reach. It was also able to easily get over thresholds for doors and change from one type of floor to another.

Like other robots, the 11S is able to suck up some objects like cords, drawstrings on hoodies and cat toys. The manufacturer says that you can prevent this by keeping these items off the floor and using a cord organizer if possible. It also suggests that you periodically clean the dustbin, replace the filters and clean or change the brushes when needed.

Roomba 990 from iRobot

The Roomba 980 is iRobot's most popular robot vacuum. It's costly, but it's an excellent performer and is arguably the most sophisticated robot vacuum you can buy robot vacuum. Its self vacuum robot-navigation and environmental mapping is a marvel to behold. It has more advanced automation than its competitors, such as the ability to set up virtual boundary markers using its mobile app. Although its app isn't the most responsive and the 980 can spin a bit when rolling over cables, it's a highly efficient robot vacuum.

One thing we really like about the 980 is the fact that it utilizes its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and visual simultaneous mapping and localisation technology (or vSLAM) to remember the floor plan of your home. It will then use the information to create an efficient and consistent cleaning path for every cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient vacuum than the majority of high-end robot vacuums.

Other features include two multi-surface rubber brushes that pick up dirt from carpet and hard floors and an ejector brush that moves debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The sensors for floor tracking help it navigate between furniture and around edges, while Cliff Detect keeps the Roomba from falling down stairs. It also automatically returns to its base station for easy charging between sessions. While the 980's battery life and bin size isn't as good as those of other robot vacuums it's a reliable and solid machine that will keep your floors spotless for hours on end.
