1. iRobot s8

This smart robot vacuum and Mop Vacuum Robot combination is a great option for a wide range of homes. It vacuums and mops well and is extremely navigable using both GPS and laser sensors, and comes with a variety of features and controls that are accessible through the app. It also has a handy feature which allows you to create cleaning zones in areas that require more attention, and Keep Out zones in areas that you do not want it to go. It also receives software updates, just like all Roomba products, that make it better over time.

It's expensive but also one of the most sophisticated robot vacuums ZDNet has ever tested. It has a high-powered battery that can vacuum a large home in under two hours. Additionally, it can switch between vacuuming and mopping at the touch of a button. And unlike other self-emptying robotics that require you to empty the trash bin after each run, this one automatically emptys itself into a larger waste container above its charging dock.

It has a wide range of other features that make it an excellent choice for homes with a lot of space, including intelligent obstacle avoidance that uses the camera as well as processor-powered intelligents to identify obstacles. It isn't often entangled or stuck during a cleaning process, and it's the best at avoiding power cables and other objects in my tests. However, it isn't as effective in detecting pet waste or other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

Although Anker-owned Eufy has earned a name for itself in the field of low-cost robot vacuums, it hasn't previously offered an all-in-one model which can also mop. That's changed with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive array of modern features that can compete against more expensive models.

The most significant selling point for Eufy with this device is its laser navigation. The previous Eufy devices have built up an approximate map of your home utilizing infrared sensors and bumping into things but the X8's laser mapping system is far more precise. It also takes significantly less time to construct an accurate map of your living space and also stores multiple maps, which is ideal for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is a decent vacuum cleaner on bare floors. It is able to easily throw debris through the side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin. Its tyres are adept at securing corners and edges, despite being circular. It's not a fantastic cat litter picker, though, with our tests showing it can only remove about 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.

There's a basic mopping mode that utilizes the same water tank as the vacuuming one. While this is good for spills that are not too large, you can't control how much water it consumes and this will reduce its effectiveness for more serious staining. However, it does an excellent job of picking up pet hair, and mop Vacuum robot has a higher pickup rate than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, efficient appliances. It features a stunning design, superb navigation, and excellent cleaning power. But it has some operational hiccups that keep it from ranking as the top overall smart robot vacuum.

Like the latest models from iRobot, the RX2 comes with dual-sensor mapping technology which uses the LIDAR sensor to map out a room and three 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real-time. Once the room has been defined, you can assign virtual no go areas and sections that you would like to be the robot. You can also start an automatic clean or manually change the cleaning mode, view a live feed from the cameras onboard and more on the main screen.

The RX2's sensors are effective, registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping capabilities are outstanding, effectively getting rid of surface litter from carpets with medium pile and also removing dust that has been deposited on floors. It's not the fastest robotics on the market. It's not the most efficient climber and has issues with transition strips made of steel.

A lot of people purchase a robotic vacuum for the hands-off convenience of setting a schedule on an app and then forgetting about it for weeks at one time. It's important for a robot able to do the job so our ZDNet staff has tested and reviewed some of the most popular models in order to help you select the right one for your home.

This budget robovac is a robot that is similar to other, but it has a few more features and better performance. Its intelligent mapping system creates 3D and 2D maps of your house and makes use of them to navigate around and avoid obstacles. It can even detect common obstructions such as furniture legs and power cords in real time. This combination of sensors, along with a bump sensor and an infrared drop sensor which keeps it from falling down steps, makes it one of the fastest vacuums we've tested.

It was able to climb over thick shag carpets and was not stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s, or Roomba 690-). Its navigation skills were also impressive and its overall score on carpet and bare floors was better than the competition. It took in 98.5 percent of the surface pet hair and litter from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are more basic than those of the competition's. There's a cleaning button on the top and you can start it by using the app or via voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, create no-go zones and check its history of cleaning. Clad in smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and is attractive in your home. The dust bin on the rear is easily accessible to empty, and the removal of the filters is also easy.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking for a basic, no-frills robot vacuum at a reasonable price, the Eufy 11S could be a good choice. The model isn't equipped with smart features like Alexa integration and digital mapping, which are available in higher-end models. However, if you do not need these features, you could save money.

The robot is simple to set up and use. It does not require a smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However, it does come with an remote control that lets you select between different modes and adjust suction levels. It also allows you to manually turn off the robovac on a scheduled cleaning.

In our tests, the 11S was extremely efficient in removing pet hair and dirt from hard floors and in carpets with a low pile. Its slim profile made it easier to reach under furniture and other low objects that more bulkier robots couldn't reach. It was able to get effortlessly over door thresholds and transition between floors of different types to another.

Like other robots, the 11S can be able to suck up objects like cords, drawstrings on hoodies and cat toys. The manufacturer says that you can avoid this by keeping such objects off the floor and using a cord organizer if possible. It also recommends cleaning the dustbin on a regular basis, replacing the filters and changing or washing the brushes as required.

6. IRobot Roomba 980

The Roomba is iRobot's flagship robot vacuum. It's expensive but it's the best robot vacuum that you can buy. Its self-navigation and environmental mapping are a joy to behold. It also comes with more advanced automation features than its competitors, such as the ability to create virtual boundary markers through its mobile application. While its app is a little sluggish and the 980 can spin out a bit when moving over cables, it's a highly efficient robot vacuum.

We love the 980 due to its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneity localisation and mapping (or vSLAM) to store your home's floor plan. It uses this information to create a consistent, efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors, and a more efficient vacuum than the majority of high-end robot vacuums.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that capture dirt on floors and carpets and an ejector brush that spins to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum’s bin. The floor tracking sensor assists in navigating around furniture, along edges and on the stairs. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It also automatically returns to the base station for easy recharges between sessions. Although the 980's battery life and bin size aren't as efficient as some other robot vacuums, it's a sturdy and reliable machine that will keep your floors spotless for hours and hours.
