Professional and competitive amateur matches are officiated by a referee, who is charged with ensuring the proper conduct of players and making decisions "in the interests of fair play". All competitions are open to professional players who have qualified for the tour, and selected amateur players, but most events include a separate qualification stage. Billiards is a classic cue sport that involves players using a cue stick to strike cue balls, aiming to pocket object balls into designated pockets on the billiard table. Before the collision, the stick is moving towards the ball at a high speed. After the collision, what is billiards the stick stops moving.
