Once the anti-hijacking mode is activated the attempt to restart the engine will be blocked. If the system detects that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators. If it is unable to find the correct code it will also stall the engine (where it is). The Anti-Hijack feature can be disabled by entering your push sequence, or by entering service mode which allows your car to temporarily begin and drive, without having to enter your PIN.

If you own a GPS device that is connected to your BMW it is possible to utilize it to disable the Anti-Hijack function to allow you to use your navigation system while the vehicle is parked. The device is connected to the CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to Ethernet cable) and a personal pin code is programmed into it. The pin code needs to be selected prior to the engine's start. This stops thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU in order to bypass this system.

If your vehicle is stolen, the Ghost will go into service mode and disable all functions until you have the PIN number or use the mobile application to disarm it.
