Ghost unlike trackers, doesn't emit radio frequency signals and cannot be detected by diagnostic tools. Also, it doesn't have any LED indicators or buttons giving the impression of its presence in your car or van.

Anti-key cloning

The Ghost immobiliser was developed to combat key cloning. The device connects to your vehicle's CAN data network and creates an unique pin code push sequence using the factory buttons on your dashboard as well as the steering wheel. This stops the thief from being able start your vehicle. If the incorrect PIN is entered it will stop the engine from starting, making it impossible to drive off with your joy and pride.

Ghost immobilisers are new technology that is extremely difficult for thieves to beat. Contrary to physical deterrents, such as wheel locks and steering locks which can be cut or stolen, the ghost immobiliser is a discrete electronic device that can't be easily detected by regular thieves, as it doesn't emit radio signals and operates in a silent manner.

OBD port hacking

OBD port hacking is a new technique employed by professional Auto Ghost Immobiliser thieves to steal cars. Thieves are able to access your vehicle's OBD port with no more than an laptop, an app, and a few cables, which can be bought online for less than PS50. Once they have access to your vehicle's OBD port, they can do whatever they want including changing fault codes and tuning your car to taking your joy and pride away in less than a minute.

If you have a Ghost immobiliser installed, it will stop your car being stolen using this method, by requiring that a unique PIN code sequence is entered into the fob of your key in order to start the engine and then drive away. It communicates with the vehicle's ECU (Engine Control Unit) via the CAN Data Circuit. This is undetectable by any RF scanning technology or code grabbing. It also has a Service/Valet mode which allows your vehicle to be started without the need for a PIN code.

You will also need cables with OBD pins, which are connected to the CAN bus. These cables can be found on eBay and Amazon for around P50. You'll also require a cable with OBD pins that are connected to the CAN bus, these can be purchased on Amazon or Ebay for about PS50. The cable needs to be spliced into the wiring harness of your car, for example the radio wiring harness.

Once the hacker has gained a connection to your vehicle's OBD port, they will send diagnostics to the system at high baud rates that can crash the CAN, and prevent systems within your vehicle from functioning. This can cause the engine to stall or even lock doors, and even the brakes to be engaged.

No additional key fobs or remotes required

An immobiliser for your car is a great piece of anti theft technology that is used by millions of modern vehicles all over the world. An aftermarket immobiliser helps protect your vehicle by using engine ECU software that stops vehicles from starting when a false transponder is transmitted.

However, it could be easy for a thief to bypass an immobiliser system in the event that they have access the code to deactivate it. The battery in most key fobs is easily removed by prying it open which means that a burglar could employ a simple tool remove the immobiliser's internal circuit board and replace it with an empty. Then, they'll be capable of starting your car.

With the TASSA approved Ghost 2 immobiliser, there are no additional keys or remotes needed. The immobiliser is directly connected to the vehicle's ECU (Engine Control Unit). A personalised PIN is set by pressing buttons on the dash and steering wheel. The device does not emit RF signals, so it cannot be bypassed. This makes it inaccessible to sophisticated scanning or code grabbing technologies that modern thieves use.

The PIN code can be changed to block earlier drivers or include an override code if you forget the sequence. During installation, the installer will demonstrate how to accomplish this. The system includes a valet mode feature that can be used to temporarily disable pin input sequences, so that your mechanic or garage can service the vehicle without having to know the code. This is ideal for those who want to give their car to valet parking or service, but still don't want to divulge the pin sequence.

Every vehicle is tested
