How a Jaguar Smart Key Works

Jaguar smart key is a convenient method of locking and unlocking your vehicle from the distance. Like all electronic devices, it's powered by a battery.

Your car could display a decrease in its effective range of signals when your Smart Key battery begins to run out. The message center can also show an alert "SMART-KEY BATTERY LOW".

Keyless Entry

This feature allows you to enter your Jaguar without having to dig through your pockets or purse. The system uses proximity sensor to detect the Jaguar Smart Key, which will activate the automatic opening of your XE. Panic Alarm

If your car's alarm is blaring at the top of its volume, you can easily shut it off with your Jaguar Smart Key. The panic button is a straightforward feature that can be useful in certain situations.

To activate the panic mode of your vehicle you need to press the button on your Smart Key with a headlamp symbol three times in three seconds. The system will turn on the headlamps on the vehicle for a period of 25 seconds, and then activate the alarm five times to dissuade a possible offender. If you press the button a second time the panic alarm will be turned off.

Alternatively, you can use the replacement jaguar key Activity Key to lock and unlock your vehicle, without the conventional Smart Key fob inside. Simply slip the Activity Key onto your wrist, shut all doors, shut off your engine, then hold the Activity Key against the Jaguar emblem on your tailgate. The vehicle will be secured and the warning lights on your vehicle will flash to indicate that it's secured.

If your Smart Key fob battery is getting low, you should hear a sound warning and see the message "SMART KEY BATTERY LOW" in the message center of your vehicle's display. If you have to replace the battery, simply remove the chrome cover that covers the key fob, and then slide out the CR2032 battery and replace it with a new one facing upwards.

Enhanced Security

Jaguar's keyless entry feature is available on a range of models that eliminate the need to fiddle with your keys as you prepare to leave for your Irvine commute. The XE makes use of proximity sensors to detect your key fob as you enter the car, and will automatically unlock and arm your security when you grasp the door handle. Convenience

Although Jaguar's smart key is more secure than a standard key fob, it is advised to be cautious when using it in public places like gas stations or restaurants. Since they transmit a low frequency signal, other people might pick up the signal and lock or start your car from a distance.

This can be avoided by only using the remote-start feature when you are sure you are in a secure area and that no anyone else will be able to view your smart key. You can also activate the alarm from a distance, which will sound loud enough to scare away any potential thieves. You can also add an Activity Key to your smartkey to make it unnecessary to use a key fob when out hiking or mountain bicycling.
