Shark 2 in 1 Robot Vacuum and Mop Review

This robot is an excellent alternative if you're looking for a solution to cleaning chores. However the battery life and charging time aren't ideal.

Ease of Use

The Shark IQ Robot is very easy to use. It has a simple interface. The robot comes with two buttons at the top of the unit that can be used to start or stop a cleaning session or to send it back to the dock. It also has an intelligent brush roll that automatically adjusts its height as it moves from one type of flooring to the next.

The mopping function is very effective, as well. The Sonic mopping system and thorough pathing can scrub floors up to 100 times per minute. A dedicated cleaner tank filled water and VACMOP cleaning solutions provide outstanding stain removal capabilities. There's a specific Ultra Mop setting in the application that offers better stain cleaning in targeted areas.

The Shark IQ is more expensive than the Xiaomi Mi robot, but it offers superior maneuverability, navigation, and cleaning performance on bare floors and low-pile carpet. It also has a bigger dustbin, can last longer on a single charge and has physical boundary strips that you can use to keep it from certain areas.

Powerful Suction

This robot vacuums and mops, which means it's your all-in-one solution for cleaning your floors. It is good in removing pet hairs and other debris but is not as effective on thick carpets. It also does a great job of mapping its coverage area and avoiding obstacles. It's louder than other robot vacuums but that's expected for a machine of this power.

It is a great battery life and can be controlled via the SharkClean app or via voice commands if using smart speakers such as Alexa or Google Assistant. The app lets you see the robot's battery life remaining, select different cleaning modes, and schedule the time when your home needs to be cleaned. You can also set virtual boundaries to stop it from entering areas in which it could be entangled or knock a fragile object over.

The Shark AI Robot has a solid structure and is simple to install right out of the box. Its body is a mixture of glossy and matte-finish hard plastic, and has wheels and bumpers made of rubber. Its shape is oblong, which allows it to fit in the tank for water and the tall LIDAR map sensor. It does not require a lot of assembly, aside from snapping the side brushes in the proper position. It's easier to assemble in comparison to other models that require more parts and work. It's heavier however, at almost 18 pounds.

Smart Navigation

The Shark AI Ultra 2-in-1 provides a wide range of automated features. This includes an app that allows you to view the vacuum's and mop’s status, receive push notification, stop or resume cleaning, or control it using voice commands, if are using Amazon Alexa or Google Home. You can also program the robot to return to its dock or change its power mode.

When you first launch it, the app prompts you to take the robot on a preliminary run, where it will map your space and draw an outline of your floor. This lets you label rooms, set up high-traffic areas and zones that are not allowed to be used and set up virtual boundaries that the robot should not traverse. You can also utilize the app to schedule cleaning sessions, look up the robot's history, charge status and even its charge history, or update the software.

The robot is very intelligent and can map its surroundings quite well, but it could get stuck on things like electrical cords or furniture. Before you start using the vacuum or mop make sure that the floor is clean of large particles.

During my tests during my tests, the shark vacuum mop combo was capable of cleaning low-pile as well as unfinished floors with impressive efficiency. Mopping also worked well. The mop and vacuum combination also operates fairly quietly, measuring in at 50dB approximately the same level as a refrigerator.

The IRobot Roomba is a great option when you're looking to add a mop and vacuum feature to a robotic vacuum cleaner that has an external dust bin (9/10, WIRED recommends). The iRobot is more expensive than the Shark, but it is more robust and is able to maneuver through obstacles better and has superior performance on carpets that are low and bare, and has physical boundaries that you can place in front of areas that you do not want it to enter.

Long Battery Life

There's no denying that dual-functioning robot vacuum and mop cleaners are a must. The Shark AI Ultra 2-in-1 that we examined, for example is priced at $699 / PS559 or AU$1,054 if buy it in a bundle with the self-emptying bagless charging base. It's priced at $649/PS449 or AU$681 with the base.

The Shark AI Ultra is a excellent robot vacuum and mop. It's a fantastic robot vacuum and mop for the majority of people. It can clean a whole room several times before charging. It comes with two mopping pads which you can wash between use.

The only drawback is that its navigation system has some issues, particularly when it comes to navigating over obstacles such as furniture. In the end, it may leave a mess left behind. However, the robot vacuum and mop does well in clearing these areas when it's in Eco mode, which is designed to minimize the power consumption.

The battery life was good in our tests, lasting from to 90 minutes. The app allows you to program it to clean a room or at a specific time. This is helpful if you need to leave the house for a prolonged period of period of time. You can also control the Shark AI Ultra using voice commands using Alexa and Google Assistant devices. If you don't want to use the app, there are two control buttons that are located on top of the robot.

It does allow you to set up mopping and vacuuming schedules that fit your schedule.
