Shark's newest robot vacuum is up to its name with its amazing suction. The app makes it easy to plan the cleaning of your entire home and also create no-go areas.

The Detect Pro's base station's dust bin holds multiple sessions worth of dirt and needs minimal maintenance, other than replacing the pre-motor filter. It also has better maneuverability than the iRobot Roomba 694 and incurs lower monthly costs.

Matrix Clean

The Shark Matrix cleans carpets and hard floors using incredible suction and the ability to mop with a sonic. It also mops with precision using an intelligent grid that makes multiple passes over dirt and debris for a full home coverage, with deep cleaning. The robot automatically emptys a bagless base at the end of each wet clean. This makes it much easier for busy families. It comes with self-cleaning brushroll and an anti-hair wrap for pet hair, and it also has an intelligent mapping using 360 degree LiDAR vision. The Matrix is able to clean day and night, detecting objects and avoiding them while intelligently adapting to changes in the environment.

The Matrix improves on the Shark AI Ultra Robot in many ways. It feels better built and has a longer battery life, and delivers more debris removal on various surfaces. Its LIDAR mapping sensor is quite precise, but the coverage of rooms could be improved. It is packed with components that need to be cleaned regularly.

It was easy to remove the Matrix. The box contained the dock and vacuum, along with an instruction manual. Unlike some other robotic vacuums there was no muddled wiring or complicated assembly required. The power cord and dock were also easy to install. The robot is quick to charge and has an indicator light that lets you know when it's fully charged.

In the course of testing the Matrix did very well in all of our tests. It was one the best performers in a vacuum and hard floor performance test. It scored better than robots that cost two or three times as much. It also did exceptionally well in our carpet deep cleaning test. It was able to pick up small objects up that other vacuums have difficulty with. The only area in which it fell short was in our crevice pickup test and could not get a lot of debris out of crevices and corners.

The Shark Matrix comes with a dustbin and a two-in-one mop pad, which makes it a convenient option for families that have different types of flooring. You can connect the Matrix Plus dustbin by docking it with the side facing away from the dock. To keep the dustbin in good shape you'll need to take it out of it periodically and wipe it clean with a damp rag. The Matrix also comes with an additional brush roll and side brushes that have to be cleaned regularly too.

The iRobot may be more expensive than the Shark but it comes with many benefits.
