A robotics company that has been a pioneer in the field for a long time, iRobot is now focused on home automation that is smart. Their robot vacuum cleaners have precise navigation and dirt detectors.

A story that is featured in the frame story focuses on a woman named Gloria and her nursemaid robot, Robbie. Gloria is devastated when her parents send Robbie back to the factory.

Roomba

Roomba is a robotic vacuum cleaner that operates autonomously. Designed to clean bare floors and carpets It maneuvers around furniture and other obstacles to clean the floor thoroughly. It automatically returns to the dock and recharges, and it can be controlled via a smartphone application or a remote control.

The majority of Roomba models are able to identify obstacles using infrared sensors and can alter direction when they encounter obstacles. Advanced versions can draw a map of the floor area, and determine the best path to follow. This allows them to vacuum a larger area in less time than previous models, and improves efficiency. Some Roombas come with a squeegee which can be used to sweep up large amounts of debris, such as pebbles and crumbs. Some have a bin with a large capacity that can hold more dirt prior to having to be empty.

The iRobot Home app lets you program cleaning times, choose when the robot should return to its dock, and control other functions like adjusting the number of passes. The app will also give you a complete record of each cleaning task, including how long the robot took to complete the task and whether it ran into an obstacle or was unable to complete the task. The iRobot Home app is linked to other iRobot devices, like the Braava M6, so it will automatically begin mopping once the Roomba is done vacuuming.

In the latter half of May 2019, iRobot introduced the S series of Roombas, which feature advanced obstacle detection and intelligent mapping technology to help find the best path through the home. The S9 and S9+ are the most intelligent Roombas iRobot has made to date, featuring 40 times more suction than the 600 series and 30% wider brushes made of rubber for better edge cleaning. They can also create "Keep Out Zones" to stop the robot from entering certain areas, such as a denseet of cords.

The j9+ is the top-of-the-line model, and it comes with everything that the brand can offer. This includes a self-emptying Cleaning Base advanced obstacle detection system, and automatic updates to iRobot OS. It also can learn your habits of cleaning and adjust the power of its motors for brush cleaning. It can even remove pet hair and allergens, as well as deeply embedded dirt.

Scooba

The irobot Scooba is designed to help you clean your floors without the mess. It utilizes an active-reservoir design to separate the cleaning solution from the dirty water. The battery slot is press-fit and slightly recessed, however there is an o-ring to stop the water from getting into the battery compartment.

In our tests test, the Scooba was able to clean the majority of our kitchen tiles but it struggled a bit with our room's mudroom. It sucked up the mud, but could not completely clean the edges of the room, and it wasn't able to get close to our cabinets in the kitchen. We also noticed that the rounded Scooba could easily become stuck under furniture, which was uncomfortable for us.

It did an excellent job of cleaning the rest of our house however, and it was extremely quick in doing it. It cleaned the bathroom extremely well and we didn't need to worry about smells that linger. The Scooba can be quite loud so it's not ideal for bedrooms or a living room.

I noticed some gunk stuck in the vacuum holes at the bottom of the Scooba. This can be partially removed by washing off. This is crucial because clogged vacuum holes can cause the bot to stop functioning.

Braava

The iRobot Braava Jet m6 may appear simple, but the company has crammed a lot of smart engineering into it to make mopping and navigation work efficiently. The compact body measures 10 x 10.6 x 3.5 inches and weighs 4.4 pounds, so it is able to maneuver in tight spaces without damaging furniture. The robot's cleaning head is designed to scrub hard floors, and its nozzle sprays water to allow wet mopping. It vibrates to break up dirt, stains and other contaminants.

The robot is equipped with the vSLAM navigation system that is the most advanced technology in home mapping. It stays clear of carpet and other obstacles.
