The iRobot App allows you to review images taken by the Combo J7+ to figure out the areas it shouldn't enter (such as lamp cords). You can also customize the map by drawing specific zones that the robot should stay clear from.

Vacuuming

The Combo Essential has a powerful 4-Stage Cleaning System that vacuums and mop in one sweep and grabs dirt from hard-to reach places like under the couch. It utilizes smart navigation for wall-towall cleaning, and to avoid falling on stairs. Sensors aid in navigation through furniture. Additionally, its Clean Base Auto-Fill Dock empties debris for up to 60 days and refills the liquid for an autonomous cleaning that outlasts the competitors. It's also compatible with more cleaning products than any other 2-in-1.

The roomba combo is a capable mopper, though it is missing some of the more sophisticated features that make the Roomba J7+ an excellent sweeper and mover. If it detects a moist surface it switches from mopping mode to its sweeping mode. A small Robot Vacuum Mops arm lifts the water tank and dustbin combination, and a new pad is inserted into the cleaner when you press a button.

It was able to navigate smoothly, even when the path was not entirely clear. It's not the best in avoiding obstacles, but it was able to recognize and maneuver to get around larger objects such as socks and toys that block its path.

The app lets you customize your schedule, create an individual cleaning route and set up Keep Out Zones or Clean Zones to direct the robot in the direction it is supposed to be. It also displays the details of what it has accomplished and its health status. You can even pair it with your Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant-enabled devices to provide voice control. iRobot’s smart platform automatically updates Combo’s software by adding new features and capabilities.

Object Detection

iRobot robots are able to detect and avoid objects such as tables, stairs, sofas, chairs and pet toys. They also keep out other household clutter. They also employ sensors to recognize carpets and rugs, and then adjust their cleaning settings accordingly to prevent wet mess. They have an automatic sensor that tells them when to stop cleaning and resurface.

With Smart Mapping, Roomba maps your home 7x faster, names rooms to start targeted cleaning earlier and can be customized to keep Out Zones and Clean Zones. You can direct your robot using voice commands or the app when used in conjunction with Alexa Siri or Google Assistant.

Roomba is able to recognize and avoid more than 80 common objects, including power cords, shoes, backpacks, socks pet toys, toilet bowls, kitty litter boxes, and other floor hazards. The iRobot Combo J7+ can also detect and avoid solid pet waste with Precision Vision Navigation.

With iRobot OS, you can view the history of cleaning your robot including maps and image data. You can choose the Dirt Detective option to prioritize cleaning the most soiled areas first. You can also view a schedule estimate so you know when your robot will be at home. iRobot OS also sends you helpful suggestions, such as extra cleaning schedules for pet shed seasons. Of course when you use any smart home device that gathers and manages data about your space, you'll need to be at ease with giving away personal information. In our tests, each company we tested was asked about the security measures for sensitive information. iRobot states that it will not sell customer information, and also outlines the Privacy Principles on its website.

Navigation

The Roomba Combo uses Imprint Smart Mapping technology to learn and map your floorplan and then re-maps it as required. Once a room is mapped, you can set cleaning preferences for that particular space from the iRobot Home App and it will then automatically clean that area during subsequent missions. Roomba also comes with Dirt Detective, which automatically prioritises your dirtiest rooms for the most frequent cleaning or mopping. Its PrecisionVision Navigation can recognize and avoid items like charging cables, shoes, socks and pets toys. This is a fantastic feature that can help you save time when you're trying to get a particular task accomplished.

Battery Life

The Combo j7+ is powered by an efficient lithium-ion battery that offers plenty of capacities for cleaning your home. Its water and dust bin tank can hold 400 and 200 milliliters respectively, and the robot has a high-efficiency filtration system to collect dirt particles and keep them from returning to your flooring. It is compatible with the iRobot app and voice assistants, so you can control it from your smartphone or other devices.

Another feature that is great is the ability to capture images of objects, which can help the Combo J7+ avoid these objects in future cleaning runs. iRobot, however, chose not to include automatic mop pad cleaning, something that we've seen in the past with premium robotic cleaners. This is a minor complaint, but it would be nice to see this feature available on the Combo J7+. The Combo j7+ has an outstanding warranty and is simple to use.
