However, the seats have to be facing forwards, and there's no room for a shopping bag under which is why you'll need a backpack for that.

Mountain Buggy Duet will be a good option for you If you like off-road driving. It's a side-by- tandem with the most compact footprint of any double buggy available. It is easier to get through narrow doors on public transport, and to climb over and over kerbs. The adjustable handlebar comes with an integrated handbrake to increase safety and security.

Another option that is light weight is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double that can be used for twins or a toddler and a baby. The seats are multi-positional reclining with UPF 50+ sunshades. The canopy can be adjusted so that the sun doesn't touch your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can even be transformed into a triple using the addition of UPPAbaby's "PiggyBack board for older and mobile kids.

The iCandy Orange is one of the most well-known double buggies available, thanks to its superb comfort. It's a true all-terrain pushchair with a soft suspension that makes easy work of bumpy surfaces. It can be used in 30 seating configurations, and comes with a built-in ride-on board for older kids who prefer to walk, and a 'cinema seating' mode that raises the back seat for better visibility.

The phil&teds dots are great single buggys that can be easily modified to take two (or three!) different configurations. This is particularly useful if you have a baby in a car. The frame can be adapted to a wedgie that allows for the best lie-flat position. Or car seat adapters that work with many brands.

Suspension

The quality of the suspension in a triple buggy is vital to how it is easy for you and your child to push. It is essential to have a smooth ride, since babies feel every bump that comes along the road. This is especially relevant if you drive on rough terrain, such as grass or roads that aren't paved. Some models have locking front tires that help maneuver and get over obstacles like curbs.

Some models have tyres with air filled which are ideal for all-terrain riding, however they are prone to punctures. Be sure to keep a spare set of tyres in the trunk. Some models have gel-filled or foam-filled tyres that are designed to cushion bumps. They are less likely to puncture, however they could be uncomfortable for your child if they decide to jog.

Folding

A three-wheel double buggy can be folded easily to be stored.
