This is not included in the consultation cost. You will be required to attend six monthly appointments to monitor your medication - this includes pulse and blood pressure readings. Annual reviews are also required.

Follow-up appointments

Once the evaluation has been completed, you will be able to make follow-up appointments with the psychiatrist, as appropriate. The appointment will usually be conducted via zoom video call. In some instances, it could be possible for an audio-only consultation to be conducted (again at an additional cost).

At this point, we will discuss treatment options and come up with a unique ADHD medication titration strategy. This will include an assessment of your medication dosage and an examination of any side effects you might be experiencing. The cost for these titration consultations is PS150 for face to face sessions and PS60 for telephone or online video consultations. Medication costs are additional and are paid directly to the pharmacy.

The psychiatrist will ask questions regarding your family history, the impact of your ADHD symptoms on your life and any mental health issues that you may be experiencing. This is because ADHD can be an inheritable condition, and it is crucial that we assess any family history that may indicate that you're at risk of developing the disorder.

It is important that you are honest and transparent to the doctor during the assessment, since the information they gather will be used to determine whether your ADHD fits the diagnostic criteria. This is a crucial step in the process, as failing to do so could result in an inaccurate diagnosis, and thus an incorrect prescribing of medication.

If you decide to seek treatment for ADHD we'll schedule an appointment for a follow-up visit with a psychiatrist who specializes in this area. This can be done within the first few days of your diagnosis if want to start treatment right away or within two weeks if you prefer to take time to consider the implications of your diagnosis and the possibilities that are available to you.

We suggest that if are unsure about your preferences, you talk with your GP prior to scheduling your private examination. Some providers have different policies on whether or not they require a GP letter. Check if your GP accepts the Shared Care Agreement, which means that you will be referred to them after you leave the clinic for prescriptions for medication.

Medication

If you are identified as a candidate for this treatment, your chosen clinician will assess you and decide whether or not you need to be titrated on medication. You will be asked to fill out forms that vary by provider but the most important ones are self-report forms and medical histories from childhood and adulthood. These forms will allow your doctor to determine if there are factors that could mean you shouldn't take ADHD medication, in the event that they've been prescribed.

If you are titrated, the medication will be a combination stimulants and nonstimulant medicines. The combination will be carefully tested and monitored to find the best combination for you, taking into account any existing conditions you have. The titration process can be long and may require multiple appointments before you are stable.

Depending on the kind of medication you are taking, follow up appointments can be scheduled either monthly or quarterly. You are required to attend an annual health check-up and routine health examination which includes blood pressure, pulse, and weight measurements.
