If you want a basic robot vacuum without the advanced features of other models, this is a great choice. It was great at cleaning up pet hair, Cheerios and kitty litter on hardwood floors.

It is fast and accurate in mapping rooms, and does a great job of avoiding obstacles. It can also be manually controlled with the remote included.

1. Roomba from iRobot

The s9+ is the most effective robot vacuum we've tested cleaning both hard floors and carpeting. It has some of the most powerful suction of any robotic cleaner on the market, and is a great choice for removing pet hair. It can also be programmed to make multiple passes or alter the suction level based on the size of the room, which is a feature we haven't seen on other models. Its app lets you modify the way it operates and select the time it will start working, so you can stay within the room while it's whirring away.

The smart mapping feature creates an accurate map of your home, which can aid the s9+ in navigation and design efficient routes. It's also self-emptying, so it does not require any intervention on your part during the cleaning process and can return to its original location and recharge mid-clean (though it's possible to hear it return to its dock when it settles in, a sound that sounds like jet engine takeoff). In our tests, the s9+ maneuvered over obstacles such as tables and power cables with ease and did not lose its charge or got stuck. It lacks the hazard-avoidance features of recent models, and could get tangled on rug tassels and other obstacles it isn't able to see.

The s9+ features a flat front, unlike most circular robots. It also has a squared-off front which makes it easier to reach corners than models with rounded fronts. It's also quieter than the previous iRobot model we tested and is more compact than the Neato Botvac D7. It's not cheap, but you get a lot for your money, especially considering the quality of its operation and you don't have to worry about emptying your dirty bin afterward. It's often on sale at Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Amazon Prime Day.

2. Roomba j7+ from irobot roomba robot vacuum

The j7+ is one of the most intelligent robot cleaners on the market. It's equipped with irobot store Genius technology that gives it the ability to detect obstacles and maneuver around them, meaning that you don't need to worry about it hitting into walls or furniture. It slows down as it comes closer to an object in order to gently clean its edges. This is particularly useful if you own small pets who leave behind messes.

The j7+ is also able to mop and vacuum due to mopsitter. When it notices that you're standing on a surface that needs to be mopped it switches to the normal cleaning mode and activates an arm that is a tiny robot with an attached pad. It scrubs the floor using an eerily-smooth motion that left my floors feeling and looking as if they'd been meticulously cleaned.

When it's done mopping the j7+, it returns to its dock and recharges. It then drives back to the point where it left off and continues cleaning. It can run for around 85 minutes in my home with a plus or minus few minutes. This is less than the s9+, but it's nonetheless impressive for a device that does both vacuuming as well as mopping.

The j7+, just like other iRobot vacuum cleaners, is able to avoid obstacles and recognizes them. It also features what iRobot calls Cliff Detect Technology, which stops it from falling down stairs. It's a great safety feature for families.

The j7+'s bin onboard is relatively small, so you'll have to return it to the dock to empty it often when your home is huge. However, the j7+ is easy to store. The all-in-one Clean Base comes with an external charging dock and also an external dustbin, and an internal bin in which the j7+ can deposit dirt.

3. Shark iQ

This sleek 2-in-1 robot vacuums and sonic mop carpets and hard floors at the same time. It also features Matrix Clean Navigation, which utilizes a grid of a matrix to give you a full-home cleaning coverage. The vacuum is empty after each run and you can check its current battery's life and condition by looking at the two lights that are above. To empty the dirt receptacle simply push a button that unlocks the bin. It can accommodate up to an entire week's worth of trash and is easy to empty from anywhere in the home.

Despite its impressive performance on bare carpet, this model does have some shortcomings on low-pile carpet and has a difficult time removing bulky debris as its dirt compartment fills up. It is robust and long-lasting battery life. You can extend this by using the energy-efficient 'Eco mode'.

The Shark IQ is compatible both with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant so you can control it using your voice. The app lets you name your robot (mine's Sharky Shark), schedule and remotely start its runs, view your cleaning history and receive error notifications. You can also create a map of your home and set up no-go zones manually.

The Shark iQ is more expensive than the irobot roomba for pets Roomba j7+, but it has better mapping and app features and superior cleaning performance on all surfaces types. It also charges more quickly and gets caught in rug tassels less often, which lowers the cost of recurring repairs. However, this model is unable to be kept away from areas with pet bowls or furniture, and you'll need to use physical boundary strips to keep it from specific objects.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The Roomba 694 comes with an elegant and stylish design that will match your interior decor. It's a fantastic robot for those looking for a device they can set up and forget about. It can recognize your habits for cleaning and create a personalized schedule. It also integrates with Google Assistant and Alexa voice assistants so that you can begin cleaning by speaking. It makes use of a wide range of sensors to navigate around the obstacles around your home. A smart bumper cushions the impact when it bumps into furniture legs or walls. Four "cliff" sensors on the front and side let it know if it's about to approach a dropoff, like stairs or a balcon, and it's also able to reverse.

This model is a great value in the sub-$300 robotic vacuum category. The Eufy 11s is an incredibly small elegant robot vacuum that offers an excellent value for the money. It has a large dirt container and can run for extended periods of time, and is good in cleaning pet hair. It's not easy to maintain and has issues with navigation. It's not equipped with an app companion to it and voice control, but it does have an easy-to-use remote. It doesn't even send you a notice when the dust bin is full, so you'll need to check it often.

The eufy has a number of advantages over the bObsweep Bob Pro however in some areas it is not as efficient as the irobot for pets Roomba 694. The iRobot Roomba 694 is better built, has fewer parts to maintain, and a HEPA-filter that lasts longer on only one charge and provides better cleaning capabilities for floors that are bare, low-pile and high-pile. It also has a smarter navigation system that can navigate around obstacles and more advanced automation features, such as boundary strips.

Although the eufy is still a decent choice, I recommend the iRobot Roomba 900 Series for most users. The iRobot is more durable, easier to maintain, has a bigger dustbin, and offers superior performance on all surface types. It's also more efficient in recharge and offers a longer maximum battery life.

The eufy is also superior to the ILIFE A4s, however it's not as effective as a top-end robot such as the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. The iRobot is built better and has a larger dust bin and has lower recurring costs. It also has a better navigation algorithm that can maneuver over obstacles and has more advanced automation capabilities, like boundary strips. The iRobot can also take care of pet hair more efficiently, and it's much easier to maintain than the Eufy.
