Their square shape allows them to navigate around corners better than most circular robots, as well. They also have excellent object recognition which allows them to eat up Cheerios and a heap of oatmeal while deftly moving through fake dog turds as well as lamp cords.

2. Cleaning with Adaptive

One of the most important things you'll find in any robot vacuum, but especially bags-free models, is the ability to adapt to the changing conditions. For instance, your robot vac will learn what type of flooring you have in each room, whether it's soft or hard and how to move around furniture and other obstacles like stairs. Some of the more advanced models include a charging dock that can refill the tank and empty the bin.

Robot vacuums have developed more quickly than any other home appliance. At first, they were a collection of overpriced devices that sat on the stairs and were suffocated with cat hair and pet litter, but today, there's an amazing selection of models across the price bracket that come with self-emptying bins, mapping functions, mopping functions and more.

The most significant advancement that has occurred to the robotic vacuum is the improvement in obstacle avoidance. 4. Easy to maintain

You'll need to empty the dust bin regularly, and you may need to clean the brushes or wheels, based on the model. Most robots come with guide to recommended maintenance procedures.

You can, for example wash the bin with water and wipe it with a slightly damp (not drippy) melamine spong to remove any dirt that has been caked on. You can also clean the filters and the wheels of your robot vacuum to keep it running smoothly. Nasrallah recommends that you inspect your wheels at least once a week to make sure they are free of debris such as hairs, threads or other debris that could cause the machine to malfunction. It is also recommended to clean the brushes beneath your robot including the left and right drive wheel, and the sidebrush at least every month. This will ensure that they're free of debris.

Some models can do double-duty as robot mops that are automated, which adds mopping to your home cleaning routine. If you plan to use this feature, ensure that you have thoroughly vacuumed the area prior to turning on your robot to mop. This ensures that the robot will not be sucked up by any pet toys or socks that haven't been secured.

Other features worth looking for include an auto-emptying base that makes it easier to empty the garbage, a high-efficiency air filter to help reduce allergens in the air, and a smart mapping technology that lets the robot learn the layout of your rooms so it can clean them in a methodical way.
