BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost utilizes the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This prevents thieves from adding an additional key or replacing the ECU to bypass your security system as it requires a correct PIN code to begin the engine.

Unlike other immobilisers The Ghost is different from other immobilisers. Ghost doesn't use LED indications or key-fobs. It relies on the buttons of your vehicle to let you to enter a unique sequence of disarming that only you know.

Stop & Start

If you've ever driven a brand new BMW or used the stop-start feature, then you might have noticed that once stopped the engine will still be running for approximately 30 seconds after you release the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to check the vehicle for a signal emanating from the ignition key. If it detects this, the vehicle will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car whenever you press a button.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser is a unique next-generation device that doesn't require cutting OEM wires or installing an aftermarket alarms or key fobs. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network and is programmed with an unique PIN code that is accessible via buttons in your car. This allows you to enter key sequences that are not accessible in normal menus for media. For example volume up/down, source controls, cruise control, air conditioning, etc. The PIN can range between 4 and 20 numbers which makes it extremely difficult for thieves to guess or crack.

In addition to this we can also add a service/ valet mode to the system, this is activated when your vehicle is scheduled for maintenance so that the Ghost remains hidden from the garage. You can do this by pressing the service button 5 times on your infotainment device (the system will flash in confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically arm itself when you return.

Service / Valet Mode

When the service/valet mode is activated and enabled, your BMW is unable to drive once it has been turned on. This will stop anyone else from attempting to drive it while you're away. When you return, the car will be restored to normal operation and prevent it from being damaged or stolen.

Anti-Hijack

Ghost created this discrete, unobtrusive device to combat the increasing sophistication of hi-tech thieves. It is designed to stop thieves from adding a new key or replacing the ECU to start your car and drive away. Ghost connects to your CAN network, and uses buttons on your vehicle to generate a unique push-sequence that must be entered before The Key Lab engine can start.

If the anti-hijacking mode has been activated and the engine is restarted, any attempt to restart the engine will be blocked. When the system determines that the vehicle is no longer moving, it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, in case it is not able to locate the correct code, it will also stall the engine (where it is). The Anti-Hijack feature can be cancelled by entering your push sequence or by entering service mode that allows your car to begin and drive, without having to enter your PIN.

If you own an GPS device connected to your BMW it could be used to turn off the Anti-Hijack feature so you can still use the navigation system inside your car when the vehicle is parked unattended. You can also use your smart-phone to control the anti-theft feature as well as other functions.

The system allows you to start the car by selecting drive, then quit the service mode without having to use your key fobs. You can also track your vehicle's location on a map in real-time on your smartphone.

The Ghost can be positioned under the dashboard or in the center console. It is completely hidden and tamperproof and doesn't require any extra wiring. The device is connected to the vehicles CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personalised PIN code is inserted into it. This pin code has to be chosen prior to the engine starting. This prevents thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU to get around this system.

If the vehicle is stolen, the Ghost will enter a service mode and disables all functions unless the PIN code is entered or you can use the mobile app to disable it. This is a feature that was designed to protect your vehicle from high tech criminals who are using relay boxes to steal your vehicle. This will prevent thieves from using their mobile phones to activate your sat-navs or mp3 players to track your vehicle!

Ghost also can stop the 'Relay Style Frequency Amplifier'. This is the most frequent way that a vehicle is being taken away with a key-fob that was copied or stolen by hacking. Ghost can help you avoid this by installing an anti-theft device within your vehicle called Secure-A-Key. The device is inserted into the key fob of your car and then disconnects the battery after a few inactive minutes. This is possible using the most modern PKE keys.
