UPVC Window Repairs

Cracks

Then unscrew the channel from the frame and fill in the screw holes with epoxy (for uPVC windows) or wood filler (if the frames are constructed of wood). Make sure you smooth the filled hole before it sets.

Reinstall the hinge channel after the holes have been filled. Make sure it is aligned with the window jamb, and make sure you drill the new screw holes about one quarter inch away from the original locations.

Next, measure the length of the spindle that protrudes from underside of the handle. You can then order a replacement online or bring your old one to the hardware store to purchase a new. Finally, back out the setscrew on the shaft of the operator and smooth it so that the set screw is able to secure itself to the shaft (photo). Now your uPVC window should be closing smoothly.

Broken Hinges

If your uPVC window hinges have broken or aren't functioning properly, you will find it difficult to open or close the window. This could cause problems with security and prevent your home from being warm or cool. It's easy to get an entirely new hinge for your uPVC windows. Locks that aren't working
