Seats

Check out the Joie Evalite Duo for an ultra-lightweight option that is perfect for urban streets. It's easy to move and comes with a large basket with lots of storage. It can accommodate twins from birth and will accept two car seats or a carrycot and seat. The seats are required to face forwards and there's not enough space for a shopping bag underneath, so you'll need a sidepack to do this.

Mountain Buggy Duet will be the best choice If you like off-road driving. It's a side-byside model with the smallest footprint of any double buggy available on the market. It is easier to get through narrow doors, on public transport and to climb over and over kerbs. It also has a handbrake on the handlebar that can be adjusted for more security and safety.

Another lightweight choice is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double that can be used for twins or a baby and toddler. The seats can be reclining in multiple positions with UPF 50+ sunshades. The canopy can be adjusted so that the sun doesn't reach your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into triple by adding UPPAbaby's 'PiggyBack’ board for older children.

The iCandy Orange is one of the most well-known double buggies available because of its exceptional comfort. It's an all-terrain model with soft suspension that makes light work of bumpy surfaces. It comes with 30 different seating options and a built-in board for older children who like to walk, and a 'cinema mode' that raises the back seats to provide better visibility.

Alternately, the phil&teds dots is a brilliant single buggy from the beginning which is then able to take 2 (or 3 Wheel Parent Facing Pushchair!) in various configurations. This is especially useful when you have a child in your car. The frame can be adapted to a wedgie, which allows for the most optimal lying-flat position. Or car seat adapters that fit many brands.

Suspension

The quality of the suspension in a triple buggy is vital to how easy it will be for you and your baby/s to push. It is crucial to enjoy a smooth ride since babies feel every bump that comes along the road. This is especially relevant if you drive on rough terrain, such as grass or roads that aren't paved. Certain models also have locking front wheels to assist in maneuvering and navigating obstacles like curbs.

Some models have air-filled tyres that are great for all-terrain riding, but they are susceptible to punctures. Be sure to keep an extra set of tyres inside the trunk. Others have foam or gel tyres that are specifically designed to handle bumps and are less susceptible to punctures, however, you may find them to be a bit stiff and uncomfortable for your child's back should you decide to run.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the Urban Glide 2 with her newborn and 3 wheel buggies-year-old and found it extremely capable on terrain that is difficult to navigate. "It was able to effortlessly navigate grass and bumpy sidewalks, cobbles, and dirt tracks. It was also easy for me to navigate around corners and climb up and down kerbs." The 16" rear wheels, combined with the lockable swivel wheels on the front, create an extremely comfortable jogging experience. Folding

It is compatible with many infant car seats and comes with a handy undercarriage basket to store items. It's on the costly side, but has several standout features that make it a good value choice, including its slick one-click fold and a host of other features like a bumper bar and raincover.
