It also has a number of other options, like intelligent obstacle avoidance which uses cameras in conjunction with processor-powered smarts in order to detect obstacles. It isn't often entangled or trapped during a cleaning process, and it's the best at avoiding power cables and other objects I've tested. However, it isn't as effective in detecting pet waste or other hazards.

2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

Eufy is owned by Anker is now an established brand in the world of budget robot vacuums. But it didn't offer an option to mop. That's changed with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive set of modern features that can compete against much more expensive models.

Eufy's main selling point with this machine is its laser navigation. The previous Eufy devices have constructed a rough map of your home using infrared sensors and bumping into objects, but the X8's laser mapping system is more precise. The X8 is still a good vacuum on bare floors, slinging debris under its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with relative ease. Its tyres are adept at hugging corners and edges, even though they are circular. Our tests revealed that it could only remove 90% of the fur on hard floors.

The basic mopping robot vacuum cleaner mode uses the same reservoir of water as the vacuuming mode. This is ideal for spills that are not serious, but you cannot limit the amount of water it uses. It's effective at picking up pet hair. It has a higher percentage of hair removal than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, effective appliances. It features a stunning design, superb navigation and an impressive cleaning power. There are a few niggles in its operation that keep it from being considered the top smart robot vacuum.

Similar to the latest models of iRobot like the RX2 features a dual-sensor mapping system which uses a LIDAR sensor to map the space and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real-time. Its navigation abilities were impressive as well and its overall score on carpet and bare floors was better than the competition, and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the surface litter and embedded pet hair from our laboratory test samples.
